Medea Electronique, in collaboration with BOOZ cooperativa organize for the third time the 27hour long festival of experimental electronic music 'Electric Nights'. In this unique event, with strong creative energy they produce a non-stop program of innovative and collaborative, cross-media improvisation.

OVERLOAD

Based on sounds that were created inside an old forgotten piano.
This piece breaths out its existence.
Through its wooden corps, cornered in an imaginary and lightless scenery, we are sensing the vibrations of its frame and of the time passing by.
A seven minute (potentially long-winded) selected memento of sounds which were filtered though the instrument’s history.
This piece was presented at the elactroacoustic Music Marathon (Corfu 20/11/2004)
The theatre was arranged for multichannel sound with 28 speakers placed at specific spots.
The piece was originally created for 5.1 surround system.
Until the format is compressed on its multichannel form in order to share it through the Internet, the piece is currently available in a compressed as mp3

The foundation of “Polyphonis” was laid during a trip to the Balkans. The contact –and the subsequent comparison- with the multicultural confusion is combined with the musical experience of the past and the present, leading to the audio capture and reform of a theme cluster which moves in varying space and time.
The different perceptions of natural, artificial and personal landscape contribute to the transcription of a subjective reality on which Polyphonis builds up.
Aside from the landscapes of natural and artificial sound, human voice and polyphonic singing play a key role to the track’s structure. Polyphonis wouldn’t be complete without the contribution of the group “Dioni” (vocals were recorded and played back in multichannel) and the bites of the Albanian polyphonic ensemble “I nei tou Argirokastrou”.

Sir Lalis was an inspiration to me when I first saw him out sound hunting. He has a fully functioning sound factory, into which he often pours the spoils of his hunt or he creates juicy mixtures of electromagnetic sound that come from human experience. The factory produces a constant flow of waste, on close inspection it was discovered the waste was, in fact, fully formed visual accompaniment to the sound scapes intentionally produced in the factory. The Lalis factory is an organic organism, which is constantly in a state of metamorphosis. Lalis has a strange habit of tasting every ingredient, toxic or not, that finds its way into
