Play(a).ark is an endosymbiotic ecosystem of spatial-temporal interaction for the contextualized reproduction of knowledge commons. The pneumatic structures form thresholds that will sequentially immerse the visitor in the atmosphere of Benidorm and inhabit the archive in a retrospective exercise in a state of the present continuum where perceptions shift between the realms of the physical and the digital.

The role of the sound installed is to create an inmersive experience enhancing the visual part of the archive + the physical installation itself. By curating audio samples, conversations, sound fields, recordings, interviews, audio from videos etc, an abstract trip to the imaginary of the history of EASA will be accomplished.
archival ontology: what do we archive? we prepare a preliminary curation of archival information and cataloguing in four ‘constelations’ of knowledge: urbanisms, artefacts, peoples, meta-practices (figure abvoce) The aim is to show the characteristics and relations of different workshops through out all of EASA’s 43 years of history.

Archival epistemology: how do we archive? we build an artificial habitat, a Shanzhai of Benidorm, that will contain the ontology of the archive via audio-visual material, while we ask: what things do we know? how and when do we know them? how do we archive? Being both the vessel of knowledge and the knowledge recipient, Play(a).ark is open to everyone to inhabit and archive their impressions & stories during EASA.

This season of L’anabase shifts from travelogue to correspondence. After a year spent tracing myths between Greece and Palestine, the show now becomes an exchange between past and present season, between two spaces and two radios: LYL Radio in Paris and Radio alHara in Bethlehem. For this new season, I will invite artists whose work was featured during the 2025 season to respond to the episode where their music was played.
For this first correspondence, I’ve invited Bart Bell, a French composer and sound designer whose work moves between worlds. I first met Bart at a poetry night in Paris and was struck at how our constellations seemed to echo one another. Since then our worlds have quietly echoed through shared conversations, a workshops with Félicia Atkinson and shared readings of Rebecca Solnit’s A Field Guide to Getting Lost. His approach to sound feels almost cartographic, drawing invisible topographies through vibration and texture. Guided by his singular handmade instrument, the metallophone, and sensitivity to space, Bart weaves a tapestry of drone, dark ambient, and electroacoustic movements that transport to many places, all at once. In his hands, sound becomes a narrative material that bends time and blurs the line between image and imagination, as if composing the soundtrack of an invisible film. I hope you enjoy the journey ✺
