3 QUESTIONS to PHILIPP FEIN:

Q: Let's get into the mood for your mix. A lot of love and light from the past - how did these tracks influence your later doings?

A: With the selection of tracks I tried to trace a little bit the last 40 years in which I have more or less actively listened to music. From the childhood hits of the 1980s that were on the radio, to Hip Hop and Breakbeats, to House and the varieties of electronic music with a straight beat: I've always tried to play as wide a spectrum as possible of awesome music that I personally like and hope I've succeeded with this mix. Nevertheless, it's also perfectly clear that there are certainly dozens of other tracks that have influenced me and that don't appear in this mix. I have also left out (most of) the usual suspects of classic tracks.  

Q: How would you reflect the past 2 years of pandemic for yourself?

A: The last two years of the pandemic have been really educational and I've found that despite the adverse circumstances for DJs and artists, I've turned the corner quite well. We had already founded our new booking agency called &&booking before the outbreak and had to wait a long time with the announcement until it made sense from our point of view to present such a venture again. And fortunately, our people were not among those who flew to Tanzania, India and Mexico anyway. My label Feines Tier certainly helped me get through the time. I simply released more music and thus I didn't get bored during the pandemic. Lucky me I was able to do this!

Q: Which future projects are on the way - what are you currently working on?

A: In the near future, of course, new great records will appear on Feines Tier, which one or the other perhaps would not expect. In addition to the booking agency, the label and our own events, I have also founded a sustainable startup with my brother, which is also very exciting and represents a nice antipole to the entertainment world: We grow cress and microgreens year-round for Cologne's top gastronomy.

What a way to start the day! We had so much fun playing a DJ set at Heinz Hopper for a nice Sunday breakfast shift from 10am to 1:30pm, taking over from one of our favs Kasper Koman. Having no idea what to expect, we were blown away by the positive energy and played a very energetic set, playing around with lots of different directions. Enjoy the journey - we sure did  ❤️

Thanks to Caleesi & Sarah Kreis for inviting us, that was a really special party. Such fine and groovy music all day long with the sweetest people.
