We are delighted to announce the 19th release of the label Monstart :

For this new opus, KARLITA, producer from south of France (Montpellier) navigating in a universe on the borders of video games, where sharp rhythms, bewitching voice notes and soaring sound ambiences oriented UK-G, juke and 2step. She presents us a project rich of 8 tracks, "Live in your world play in mine", which revisit in a sound way the experience of her youth, on the eve of the major advent of the Internet era.

Deeply inspired by digital aesthetics as Tekken and Gran Turismo can be landmarks, Karlita is a 2000s child.

We dive into an imaginary cultivating a sweetened nostalgia, enhanced by the brilliant superposition of repetitive kicks and nonchalant voices, characteristic of the Karlita touch.

The ultimate nod to the PlayStation catchphrase that she switched to call her musical gold nugget, “Live In Your World, Play In Mine”.

"This project was a challenge for me. To transmit my emotions, while offering rhythmic tracks calibrated for a dancefloor. Finding the harmony and balance, between softness and vulnerability vs. the raw and energetic aspect of club music."

Monstart was born 16 years ago, out of love and celebration. The fruit of the meeting of Ouanounou (DJ) and Chatte Chatoyante (dancer-performer). 

With its pack of artists coming from all over the world, the label has been exploring club music and culture. Not caring about adhering to one specific genre, they draw from all of their combined influences to create a hybrid project.

With one idea in mind : to be together while celebrating the richness of human singularities.

Since 2009, 80 events mixing music and performances, 21 releases on the label (EPs and compilations) and a 5 years residency on Rinse France have allowed them to express their own vision of club music. After 5 years of Rinse’s residency,  Monstart is experiencing a new chapter with their homies of Piñata Radio by starting a musical journey, becoming their new monthly hosts. 

“For us dance and music are inseparable. We approach them in a personal, visceral and inclusive way. We don’t care about fitting in.”

Since 2019, the label has opened its publishing and sync branch named 'AudioScore', producing music for worldwide advertising campaigns.

Whether on a clubby night, a smooth sunset evening or a spicy afterhours, this music collector has a myriad of tunes to fit each presentation. What defines HIHATDANCER is the mixture, with a deep love for the underground and the story of electronic music.

Versatile, she adapts like a chameleon to house or techno. Expect acid, electro, breaks and cosmic sounds in her mixes. The result is a session both futuristic and classic, where the energy on the dancefloor never stops.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, she's played at the city's most renowned venues like Avant Garten or Under Club. In 2022 she toured for the first time in Europe and performed at Kit Kat Club, Klunkerkranich, Bordello Aperitivo and Operator Radio, to name a few. During 2024 she returned to the EU and performed for the first time in Madrid and Bruxelles.

From 2019 to 2023 she was editor-in-chief of the electronic outlet Danzfloor, which focused on the Argentinian dance scene, with special emphasis on upcoming talent.

ATM she’s devoting herself to master the art of djing with vinyl.

Oriunda de Buenos Aires, traductora, periodista y melómana, Rocío Cusmano aka HIHATDANCER lleva como bandera el amor por el underground y la historia de la música electrónica.

Ya sea en formato club, sunset o afterhours, lo más importante para ella es EL BAILE. Futurista y clásica a la vez, en sus sets la energía no para. Versátil, se adapta al House o al Techno, siempre mezclando sonidos del Acid, Electro, Breaks y un tinte cósmico que es su característica principal.

De 2019 a 2023 fue Editora en Jefe de Danzfoor, un medio digital sobre la escena dance local, con énfasis en lxs artistas emergentes.

Durante 2022 y 2024 viajó a Europa, en donde se presentó en 6 países, dentro de los que se destacan venues como Kit Kat Club, Klunkerkranich, Bordello Aperitivo y Operator Radio.

Actualmente está dedicándose a dominar el arte del djing con vinilos.
