The So Sorry role is taken by an original character named Shamana, a mysterious rodent who has vowed to protect the hidden people of the Jungle.

Is this too epic a theme for someone who is 95% divorced from the plot? Yeah, probably. Oh well.

Most of you probably won't even get this reference unless you've been around for a very very long time. But this is a tribute to a creator who unwittingly was a huge inspiration for Refractale, one who I wish I could thank myself. Thank you, wherever you are.

Also no, we're not skipping the Report songs and Spider Dance, the So Sorry fight just happens earlier in this AU.

The CORE, and a lot of Hotland in general, is a weird amalgamation of what it used to be, and an overabundance of plantlife. Some if it is Asriel's fault, some of it is Flowey's fault. You'll usually be able to tell the difference between Asriel's and Flowey's additions to these places. Not only that, but Flowey's managed to both power and take control over some parts of the CORE to make it do what they want it to do, such as controlling the speed of the lasers.

Rather than a bunch of Flowey-based "minigames", the majority of these interactions would happen between Frisk (and Chara) and Asriel.

This track in particular serves as the theme that plays while the two or three of them go shopping cart racing. Monsters are prone to having misconceptions about the extremes to which humans take things. One of these misconceptions is about what human teenagers do with shopping carts, thinking that they have genuinely modified shopping carts built for racing around in, as opposed to just having people run around with the carts. This track plays during the first two laps of this race.

Once I have a more expansive plot synopsis for these AUs individually I will put them here (and in future tracks' descriptions), but for now this will have to do.

Chara used to live with the royal family. But one day, when tragedy struck thanks to another human, Asgore waged war against humanity. Chara would be considered one of their own, but something didn't quite sit right with Chara. Uncomfortable, and worried they would one day be mistakenly attacked, they left for the royal family's old home in the Ruins. Nowadays, they spend their time looking after the fallen children in the hopes that they can keep them safe.

While Chara has Frisk and Toriel to help them out with looking after the kids, sometimes it becomes really, really overwhelming. So when Oliver's looking to proceed from the Ruins, they're looking for any other excuse they can to keep Oliver here, rather than just telling them the truth. (Because asking for help can be really difficult sometimes.) Instead, they put both of their combat skills to the test in one last ditch effort to keep them around longer. Maybe if Chara can somehow convince them the monsters are far, far more vicious and ferocious than Oliver could handle, they'd stick around.

The Premonition and It's Raining Somewhere Else replacements are contextually drastically different from how they're usually used.

Grillby and Muffet share a building in the suburbs. Muffet uses it as a pastry parlor during the day, and Grillby uses it as a bar 'n grill at night. Rather than any old date with Grillby, he invites Frisk back to the suburbs for dinner at his bar 'n grill, where they'll also get to hang out with his friends/loyal customers.

Riverperson replaces So Sorry. The fight against them takes place on their boat; they offer Frisk (and Chara) to take them directly to the king. Little did they know the Riverperson meant by taking their SOULs to the king...

They don't have any grand motivations for this and are relatively easily dissuaded from it, but they saw an opportunity to be the hero Monsterkind needed and took it rather impulsively. By the end of the fight -- whether sparing or killing them -- the boat will have brought them right back where they started.

The Diamond-headed kids (currently still unnamed) take Muffet's role. They're actually usually stationed near the CORE, but they don't particularly care too much about doing their job, especially since they haven't seen a human in forever. Instead, these MTT-Brand Die Hard Mettaton Fans™ are found goofing off somewhere halfway through Hotland with their totally official MTT-Brand Costumes.

Of course, seeing a human or two makes them realize they've still got a job to do, so despite their totally awesome outfits they're gonna have to get their hands a little dirty.

Asriel is the Alphys replacement. He's taken up his dad's passion for gardening and also spends his time looking after and taking care of one of his new friends. Ever since Alphys left for the Ruins, the lab had remained abandoned until Asriel decided to put it to use for gardening-based experimentation. Asriel also occasionally tags along with you (and Chara).

Rather than being for a bunch of Flowey-based minigames, these themes are partially split up between Asriel and Flowey. This particular theme is a very general-purpose theme for the majority of the antics that would ensue.

Flowey is the Mettaton replacement. This flowery bud definitely isn't trying to be YOUR best friend. Legend has it that one day this flower will bring salvation upon the Underground, but that's just a story, right? This cute little thing?

This theme is a fairly general-purpose theme for Flowey that suits situations that His Best Friend might not, and particularly works more so for moments where Flowey seems somewhat suspicious of you. Granted, that's most of the time.

Monster Mix is an Undertale AU made by a friend of mine back in 2016-2017. They've unfortunately since left the Undertale SoundCloud scene, but I still look back on this AU rather fondly. We've gone through numerous attempts of reiterating the AU, but the approach I'm taking here is having it based heavily on the oldest versions of the roles we had decided on. While the newer ones were definitely very cool too, it doesn't feel right to do that new take without them on board.

The roles will be revealed as time goes on, but there's a decent chance they're already known to quite a handful of you.
