Napstablook is the Ruins Dummy replacement, and one of Gaster's Followers -- the one at the front -- is the Napstablook replacement. The other Gaster Followers are along for the ride as well. After the tragic demise of Dr. Gaster and Dr. Alphys quit, this Follower moved its way to the Ruins where it would try and convince Alphys to return to the lab some day, if only to carry on Dr. Gaster's legacy.

The Gaster Followers didn't really have a place to stay and Napstablook decided to let the trio crash with them. The Followers have taken up the hobby of making small inventions and contraptions, and they're slowly trying to build their way up to bigger things.

The Followers, as they've been living with Napstablook for a little while, have picked up on some of their traditions and interests. One of these traditions is lying on the floor and feeling like garbage. They don't really talk about their feelings a whole lot, they just let themselves feel and process things that way.

IDENTITY CRISIS

In case anybody was wondering how we went from a random jumble of notes to an actual melody.

I made this a while ago, so I don't remember exactly how I got it to this point. The main things I remember doing were speeding it up and adding EQ.

Whether this melody was intentional or not is up to debate. For one thing, it would be very difficult to purposely hide a melody in what appears to be a random jumble of notes, and still keep it subtle in the midi. However, when you do get the melody, it sounds... scarily intentional.

As for what it could be used for, I personally think that the most likely theory is that it's a Kris leitmotif. It's in a song directly tied to them, and, more compellingly, the notes in the Pianpian melody perfectly match up with the ones in the chord played when Kris eats a CD Bagel from the overworld menu.

Personally, I have no idea why so many chapter 3 takes use this for their secret boss themes. There is no evidence (to my knowledge) tying this melody to chapter 3, and the only reason I can think of for doing this is that River and j5 played around with the concept and now everybody else has just accepted it as canon.

Overall, there's a lot to discuss with this melody, and I can't talk about it all here, but I hope I was able to clear up some confusion and give some backstory on this obscure could-be melody.

Monster Mix is an Undertale AU made by a friend of mine back in 2016-2017. They've unfortunately since left the Undertale SoundCloud scene, but I still look back on this AU rather fondly. We've gone through numerous attempts of reiterating the AU, but the approach I'm taking here is having it based heavily on the oldest versions of the roles we had decided on. While the newer ones were definitely very cool too, it doesn't feel right to do that new take without them on board.

The roles will be revealed as time goes on, but there's a decent chance they're already known to quite a handful of you.
