Chill Out and Chill House

In August 2018, I will celebrate my 'Ten Years of Dance Music', with special dedication to the Progressive House genre and the Trance genre. The swinging track “Pjanoo" by Eric Prydz (2008) was the first mindful music-trip of a life-changing journey. This track is the eternal founder of my World of Dance Music.

In 2013, I opened the music box of Silk Music, a highly unique record label. Silk Music believes in music that "illustrates our feelings better than words" and this conviction can be traced back in every record they released. The typical Silk Music sound for me is a mix of intelligent melodies and uplifting beats for full enjoyment. Although a small wanderer in the World of Dance Music, Silk has proven time after time that pure creativity can overcome any difficult barrier. 

All-time favourite track of this record label? After years of serious thoughts, it is ‘This Is Us’ by Nigel Good, from the ‘Nothing Out Here’ album (2014). The melody reminds me of the countless spiritual cycling trips through vast farmlands, thick forests, golden beaches and other calm venues where I can see the sun set, for I am a sunchaser. ‘Velvet’ by Blood Groove & Kikis (2014), ‘Breaking The Illusion’ by Dan & Sam, ‘April (Johan Vilborg Remix)’ by Schodt (2013), ‘Sunset On The Sea’ by Sergey Alekseev (2012), ‘Sunset Trip’ by Nathan Rux (2015), ‘Altara (Nigel Good Remix)’ by Johan Vilborg (2012), ‘Afloat’ by Blood Groove & Kikis (2014) and ‘Flight’ by Nigel Good (2014) are tracks that belong to the same category as the all-time favourite.

On Silk Sofa we are proud to present the brand new artist album from Deepshader & Nazca (Moldova / USA). "Ashes From The Sky" consists of over a dozen outstanding chillout and downtempo pieces.

The album intro starts off with lush bell melodies, which are later accompanied by a tranquil breakbeat. Just released as a single with an accompanying remix by Gorm Sorensen, "Covered By The Blue Fog" includes mesmerizing guitar riffs and sidechained pad lines. "My Rainy Day" quickly introduces a hypnotizing soundscape, featuring captivating arpeggio lines and a soft breakbeat. A memorable guitar riff is showcased in the 4th track, "From Now You Are Home", which also includes myriad underlying atmospheric elements. "If You're A Bird" consists of an almost haunting piano line, as well as floating pad layers in the background and a calm guitar riff. The next song, "I'm A Bird Too", perfectly follows in the footsteps of the previous one, using subtle piano lines and gentle guitar strokes. "Forever In The Night" contains a blissful atmosphere, including tranquil guitar riffs and lush percussion elements. A slow 4/4 beat is introduced in "The Soulflayer", which also showcases subtle choir elements and airy pad lines underneath. A delightful soundscape is quickly established in "Tripping On My Nightly Dreams", in which we witness mesmerizing pad layers and subtle guitar riffs in the foreground. "Living With The Ghosts" starts out with lush guitar riffs that gently guide the listener throughout this breath-taking piece. Featuring Rob Phipps (USA), "Antikythera" consists of haunting male vocal stems, as well as mood-setting guitar melodies in the background. "The Timewriter", a collaboration with S.Bluyer (Moldova), features an intriguing breakbeat and intricate sound effects, as well as an interesting spoken word sample. A stunning atmosphere is quickly established in "Lucy", a collaboration with Max Farewell (Moldova). Piano strokes, guitar melodies and subtle choir elements unite beautifully. The album outro features excellent textures and enjoyable, subtle guitar melodies, as well as blissful pad layers in the background.

Blugazer's "Ethereal Concepts," one of our favorites from this year's "Silk Royal Showcase 04" compilation, finally receives a full single release on our parent label, including powerfully emotive interpretations by Shingo Nakamura and Piramex. Based in NYC, Blugazer has generated strong buzz in the international trance & progressive community over the last few years, on account of his intricate, visionary productions. His original version is centered on a gentle groove, while a variety of relaxing and lush melodies are equally entrancing. The instrumental themes are quite memorable, yet the most breathtaking effects are provided by an unnamed female vocalist, whose ethereal voice offers a deep catharsis to the listener.

Veteran star Shingo Nakamura, fresh off a wonderful collaboration with Jody Wisternoff and James Grant on the recent "Anjunadeep 06" release, offers a deliciously deep take in the spirit of the original version. Soothing pads and a buoyant rhythm provide the listener with a floating-on-air sensation, while Shingo's signature chords offer uplifting melodic vibes. In the main break, Shingo's gorgeous piano lines, which beautifully coalesce with the vocal stabs, are a welcome addition to the soundscape.

Rising Russian talent Piramex, who recently won our "Both" remix contest, provides a peak-hour rendering, fueled by a ferocious bassline. As the song crescendoes toward the climax, vocal effects and pad layers are added, creating an aura of suspense. In the main break, a reworked vocal sequence soars above an anthemic bassline progression, while a variety of side melodies fill out the soundscape. The thunderous drop to follow is awe-inspiring.

First up is a fresh collaboration from hot Italian duo Donati & Amato with their new release 'Invincible'. One of the highlights of Enhanced Sessions Volume Four, 'Invincible' combines viral vocals and melodic progressive house rhythm for that big room sound. Already with massive support on Tritonia, the Enhanced Sessions Radio Show from Tritonal and a host of other high flying DJs, 'Invincible' enters the ranks of Enhanced Recordings with aplomb!

Next up is Russian production duo Misha Kitone & K.S.Y. with their label debut - 'Champions'. A knockout tune with so much melody and groove that work both on and off the dancefloor, it's no wonder that Estiva had to include it on the first disc of his Enhanced Sessions mix.

Lastly, we have a much talked about release that was chosen by Juventa as his closing tune of the compilation. San Francisco native T-Mass gives the beautiful 'Lyra' by Tygris his very own makeover, morphing the track into his own dubstep vision, the T-Mass remix was a clear cut choice for the Sampler.

“Two Souls” is a true music festival anthem. JES drew her inspiration for the song from every near miss and chance meeting that embodies the festival experience. “I wanted to write something that encapsulates the feeling of being together but alone,” said JES. “You’re in this place with thousands of other people but you feel somehow outside it all. You know that you can’t be the only one that feels that way. I wanted to write something for those people, a song for the outsiders."
 
“Two Souls” includes an irresistible radio edit and a hypnotic extended mix that will make its presence felt in both arenas. If this is any indication of whats to come it looks like 2015 is going to be a great year for JES. In anticipation of Arrival's second installment of its highly acclaimed "Destination" series, we are proud to kick off 2015 with this "Destination Indonesia" sampler, compiled by internationally acclaimed talent LTN. The Indonesian sensation has been a fixture on the world's leading trance, progressive, and house radio shows in recent years, so we're especially thrilled to present this edition.

The first song is a collaboration between LTN and Hungarian producer Kokai. "The Underground Sound" takes off with a deep and haunting atmosphere, including soothing bassline note stabs and a sidechained pad lurking in the background. In the break we witness intriguing vocal effects and intricate sound effects, which eventually lead up to a memorable theme part, heavily dominated by the varying arpeggio lines.

David Broaders (Ireland) showcases his brand new remix of Lukas Termena & Sinoptik Music's "Silence". Mesmerizing arpeggios quickly dominate the soundscape, to which hypnotizing background elements and lush percussion stems are soon added. The beautiful vocal line from the original mix soon emerges, which is soon accompanied by powerful background arpeggios and a strong theme line.

One of Arrival's latest signings, the duo APD & Kris Maydak (Slovakia, Poland), present "Vault Sky". In the introduction we are met by energetic background riffs and tranquil vocal effects. Adding further texture, a subtle piano line brilliantly leads up to the main break, in which the powerful and memorable theme riff takes over the mix.

Finally, Australian duo Illuminor showcase their remix of Johan Vilborg's "Second Wind". The song starts with strong percussion elements and quickly establishes a prominent bassline thereafter. The enjoyable theme riff of the original mix is hinted in the background, while a piano melody dominates the mix. Beautiful string layers are showcased in the break, and the song continues with the dominant theme riff and intriguing sound effects.

Swedish producer Claes Rosen first appeared on Spring Tube in January of this year with his remix of B-Max's 'My Angel'. 

Now as 2011 draws to a close Claes is back on Spring Tube for his first single for the label. 'Into The Bloom' comes with remixes from: Adam Byrd, Ricky Inch, Luiz B, Nicolas Agudelo and Elvin Ong. Claes is of course much loved for his unique ability to craft spine tingling, classy melodies and he's done so again on 'Into The Bloom'. It's a wonderfully light-hearted journey into melodic house with some of the warmest pads and gorgeous bells that you'll hear all this year. Beautifully blissed out stuff from Claes! Hungarian producer Adam Byrd brings Claes' gorgeous theme a bit closer to the dance floor with a mid tempo house interpretation that's silky smooth and incredibly funky all at once. Columbian producer Nicolas Agudelo makes his Spring Tube debut after a couple of appearances on Spring Tube's sister Round Triangle imprint. Nicholas brings 'Into The Bloom' straight to the dance floor with a tight punchy groove glorious beachside vibe. Brazilian producer Luiz B who is well known for his outstanding productions on Silk provides the next remix and he provides a mid tempo electronic house version with some amazing edits and an undeniable groove. Estonian producer Ricky Inch has been crafting some of the best melodic house records over the last several years for labels like Brown Eyed Boyz, Nellie and Cabrio. For his debut on Spring Tube Ricky has come up with one of his best productions all year. His drummy groove bounces with a vibrant energy as the bass stabs play off each other perfectly. The melodic hooks are seriously deadly and create an unparallelled groove when combined with the sweeping vocal pads and modulating synths. Amazing stuff from Ricky. Closing the package out is US producer Elvin Ong with an up tempo tech house version that uses some big sounds and soft melodic transitions. Top quality pack from Spring Tube.

As the summer winds to a close Spring Tube unleashes their final release for the season and 70th overall. The Russian duo August Rush return to the label following appearances on the first two Nu Breeds compilations. 'So Many Times' is their first single for Spring Tube and they've collaborated with Russian vocalist Natalie Voice for a melodic house anthem that comes with remixes from Luiz B and Blood Groove & Kikis.

The original mix is a housey affair that begins with amazingly warm bass stabs, twinkling keys and great vocal elements. The first drop introduces the full vocal which sounds fabulous with all the atmospheric and melodic elements working well around it. The tracks flows though some nice melodic peaks as the vocal weaves it's way in and out of the mix to tease the senses perfectly. A dub version has also been supplied for the less vocally inclined. The first remix comes from label regulars Blood Groove & Kikis who are making their 11th appearance on the label here. The Latvian duo delivers a housier club interpretation with a warm spacious groove, great use of the vocal parts and smooth melodic lines. Closing out the package is another Spring Tube regular Luiz B who is making his 9th overall appearance on the label here. The Brazilian producer has delivered a superb complement to the more housier interpretations with a funky electronica rework that comes with infectious bass hooks, live sounding drums, great vocal gates and electric guitars. Amazing work from Luis! A gorgeous melodic house package to finish off the summer release schedule on a high note for Spring Tube.

Silk Royal is excited to welcome back 19 Hz, the Argentinian super duo of Dario Tello (a.k.a. Airdraw) and Rodrigo Deem, with the brand new single "Another Skin". 19 Hz's last release on Silk Royal, the Beatport hit "Round & Round," was voted "Web Vote Winner" on Above & Beyond's "Trance Around The World" and receive a litany of additional support, so we are especially excited to announce their return to our imprint. This single also comes equipped with brilliant new remixes by Dan & Sam and Blood Groove & Kikis.

19 Hz proved that they are quite capable of composing peak-hour dancefloor material with "Round & Round", but their offering here, "Another Skin", is a journey back to their more pensive and emotive progressive roots. The song kicks off with a house-y beat (highlighted by a snappy snare), brooding and layered pad, and melancholy arp line, all of which coalesce to create a deeply poignant atmosphere. A top line to the arp beings to develop: crystalline bell sounds, which soar above the track like an especially vivacious flock of birds. Meanwhile, the full-bodied pad begins to crescendo with "tidal" force, as the song approaches its midpoint. In the main break, we are treated to a series of achingly beautiful female vocal samples and wintry bell sounds, all of which lend additional emotional resonance to the tune.

Dan & Sam, fresh off their breakthrough hit "Breaking The Illusion" (#2 on the Beatport Trance Release chart for over a week), offer the first of two breathtaking interpretations. Hailing from the USA (Dan Sieg) and Australia (Sam Wilkinson), this exciting new duo offers a more upbeat take on the original, as their version jets out of the gate with a clubby kick and gut-busting rhythm. Yet, the emotive spirit of the original is not abandoned: a teaser mini-break early in the track reveals a moving new lead chord progression and arp line, as well as the very welcome inclusion of the original vox samples. The tune continues to pick up steam, leading into the main break, where a gorgeous new piano solo appears. The dancefloor-friendly groove sits below all of these elements in the latter half of the tune, to truly stunning effect.

Blood Groove & Kikis, who also appeared recently on Silk Royal as a winner of our "Wild At Heart" remix contest, are back with another atmospheric progressive masterpiece. Their track takes a slightly different approach, in that the song is infused with a more "romantic" and soothing spirit, in contrast to the melancholy and almost heart-breaking tones of the prior two mixes. A powerful groove is established early, as well as repeating chord, which eventually develops into a full, 4-bar motif. Also, the vocal samples bring additional melodic texture, as do the Sundriver-esque pads. Glorious new melodic variations appear in the break, including delicate guitar plucks and piano lines. With the arrival of the drop, the listener is submerged in full atmospheric prog splendor, courtesy of one of the finest new acts in the genre.

A top line to the arp beings to develop: crystalline bell sounds, which soar above the track like an especially vivacious flock of birds. Meanwhile, the full-bodied pad begins to crescendo with "tidal" force, as the song approaches its midpoint. In the main break, we are treated to a series of achingly beautiful female vocal samples and wintry bell sounds, all of which lend additional emotional resonance to the tune.

Dan & Sam, fresh off their breakthrough hit "Breaking The Illusion" (#2 on the Beatport Trance Release chart for over a week), offer the first of two breathtaking interpretations. Hailing from the USA (Dan Sieg) and Australia (Sam Wilkinson), this exciting new duo offers a more upbeat take on the original, as their version jets out of the gate with a clubby kick and gut-busting rhythm. Yet, the emotive spirit of the original is not abandoned: a teaser mini-break early in the track reveals a moving new lead chord progression and arp line, as well as the very welcome inclusion of the original vox samples. The tune continues to pick up steam, leading into the main break, where a gorgeous new piano solo appears. The dancefloor-friendly groove sits below all of these elements in the latter half of the tune, to truly stunning effect.

Blood Groove & Kikis, who also appeared recently on Silk Royal as a winner of our "Wild At Heart" remix contest, are back with another atmospheric progressive masterpiece. Their track takes a slightly different approach, in that the song is infused with a more "romantic" and soothing spirit, in contrast to the melancholy and almost heart-breaking tones of the prior two mixes. A powerful groove is established early, as well as repeating chord, which eventually develops into a full, 4-bar motif. Also, the vocal samples bring additional melodic texture, as do the Sundriver-esque pads. Glorious new melodic variations appear in the break, including delicate guitar plucks and piano lines. With the arrival of the drop, the listener is submerged in full atmospheric prog splendor, courtesy of one of the finest new acts in the genre.
