At the end of last year, we were privileged to officially welcome Z:N, Boom Jinx, and Katrine Stenbekk to our imprint, as they graced us with the achingly beautiful "Come Alive," with Boom Jinx himself delivering a deeper take on the same single release. Although we were reluctant to reinterpret a timeless deep-progressive ballad, we ultimately challenged veteran sensation Terry Da Libra and more recent recruit to our core roster, (the wonderful) A.M.R, to lend their talents to "Come Alive." The result is a gorgeous pair of renderings, which honor the spirit of the original composition, while also showcasing these two extraordinary remixers' distinctive compositional gifts.

The latest act to emerge on Anjunadeep, LA duo Leaving Laurel bring their delicate touch to Anjunabeats, with a fresh rework of Andrew Bayer and Alison May’s ‘Open End Resource’. 
One of the first tracks the duo worked on under the Leaving Laurel moniker, their introspective remix is reminiscent of acts such as Boards of Canada, Tycho and Kiasmos, combining subtle atmospherics with refined electronica rhythms.

“We became big fans of Andrew Bayer’s music back in 2011 with his Distractions EP and as a result discovered that it was on a label called Anjunadeep…there’s something particularly special about our first remix as Leaving Laurel being an Andrew Bayer song. We really enjoyed the original version of “Open End Resource” and had so many ideas to reimagine the song using just the vocals. A lot of what you hear on our remix is the result of our experimenting with recording guitars and live drums to cassette tape - we had no idea it would all make it to the final cut. This remix was one of the first projects we worked on together and as a result, showed us a path towards what Leaving Laurel would become. We hope you enjoy it!” - Leaving Laurel

It begins and closes with stirring orchestral pieces, which bookend an otherwise more rhythmically inclined aural experience. Standout 4/4 cuts like "Sailor's Cry," "Hidden Sun," and "Crystal Fountain" feature achingly beautiful vocal textures, if not full verses and choral sections. Worthy of special note, Canadian singer-songwriter Brandon Mignacca delivers an extraordinary lyrical and vocal performance on "Fell Out Of Love," a deep-tinged ballad.

The "A Place For Everything" album journey is pure and poignant from start to finish, a reflection of A.M.R's extraordinary artistic gifts, not to mention his own sensitivity and sincerity, as a human being. “During the process of making this EP we have been experimenting a lot with recording techniques to capture the sound of the piano and analogue gear. We like the fact that this EP reflects our musical journey in so many ways - and ’Feel’ is the most recent result of our creative endeavours. You can hear quite a lot of room hiss and other artefacts in the piano recording - which is  amplified by processing such as EQing, compression, and side chaining. It adds a very special color and makes the track come alive.” - TWO LANES
