Silk Textures is thrilled to release its fifth album, "Silk Textures 05," mixed and compiled by Da Funk, the sensational Swiss producer and DJ. Da Funk not only has been an active musician for nearly two decades, but he is also the founder of the acclaimed Acryl Music label. It is our great honor to announce that Da Funk is now the leading ambassador of our imprint, having recently embraced the role of "Silk Textures" radio show host. A long-standing show on Proton Radio, "Silk Textures" recently reached #1 on the San Francisco-based, underground dance music station. 

Da Funk's continuous mix includes 15 deep, groovy, and lush cuts: from Dousk's deep-diving remix of Kyo Koichii's "Spit On You" to Sure-I-Can's outer-worldly "Sin" and Da Funk's own funky "King Filth." Previous Silk fan favorites on the album include Claes Rosen's jazzy, yet soothing "Glancing," as well as Bodytemp's provocative "Kalm."

Several of the album tracks are previously unreleased. Specifically, Irish newcomer Jay FM treats us to the tranquil "Waterfall," a sensual deep-progressive journey that works especially well as a soulful opener in a live set. The compilation is inspired by our weekly radio show of the same name, which is co-hosted by Jacob and Tom, as well as Johan Vilborg, Jayeson Andel, Vintage & Morelli, & Terry Da Libra. Reaching international listeners on Proton Radio, Digitally Imported, and other radio platforms, Silk Music Showcase recently reached its 400th episode (http://www.silkmusicshowcase.com) and now often ranks amongst the Top 100 Music Podcasts in the USA on iTunes.

Carefully selected to represent the sound of our radio show (and, more generally, our label), the songs included in the compilation range from the more pensive and melancholic shades of progressive to the more club-oriented, peak-hour material we tend to play at the end of our radio show mixes and live sets. Many of the artists are seasoned veterans of the SMS compilation series; there are also numerous first-time contributors to this year's compilation, many of whom have asserted themselves as leading talents in trance & progressive in just the past year.

It's always a pleasure to work with artists that have a clear vision of what their sound is and are keen to maintain and upgrade the quality of their productions with each release. Such is the case of Dutch melody man Vince Forwards, who returns with an epic progressive choon after a brief immersion into other styles, namely deep and ambient.
On 'Falling Stars' , a collaborative effort with Essex native Sunset Moments, the duo unleash an array of atmospheric wooshes and layers that will have the listener captivated from the very first beat. It's clear that Vince's influences from other genres have helped them create a smooth and calm, almost an esoteric, pensive piece that's truly a testimony to the dreamy quality of melodic progressive as a genre. We welcome George Ellinas to Progressive Dreams who is from Larnaca, Cyprus. The man that's one half of Synth Collective and owner of Sanille Recordings is also another multitalented producer with a vast array of nice music over the years.

Morrison Kiers also debuts to Progressive Dreams with his beautiful remix of Firefly. Round 2 of our seasonal compilation, Celestial Spring, comes out of hibernation to spread melodic motifs and paint textured atmospheres. Discognition lays the groundwork, or sets the table rather, for melodic springtime cuisine. Listener’s experience euphoria as they dine on a full course of sunshine. After a bit of sunshine, why not take a gander outside and frolic in the “Morning Dew,” a beautifully arranged track with a tint of breakbeat in the reflective sparkle. “The Way We Were” is not the way we are today with the pandemic, but Joe Schaeffer and Mark Digital certainly know how to forge an uplifting remedy. Numedian may have a secret apprenticeship with Sunlounger the way his Balearic chords are arranged. Let’s rewind back to the summer of ‘89 with Martin Zeidner’s no-less-than-awesome retro-bution to that 80s synthwave era. “Tomorrow” never dies as long as we continue to uphold “progress” in EDM. Shatadru Sensharma pairs up with Weiyu Shen in this supersonic soundwave. The afterparty continues at “4 A.M.” at la casa de Castiello, a new and debuting artist on our imprint. Numb your body with these fantastic progressive beats. Andrew GG’s “Shortcut to Paradise'' dives headfirst into the festive embrace of spring, elements of trance x2 reverberating from its throttle.
