Handpicked by curators James Grant & Jody Wisternoff, Anjunadeep 14 - The Selection hosts 6 highlights from the label’s annual compilation, featuring PROFF, Igor Garanin, Legato, Duke Boara, Nōpi and exclusive James and Jody remixes of Natascha Polké and LAR.

Kicking off the EP is a remix of Above & Beyond’s ‘Surge’ from Russian producers PROFF and Igor Garanin. First debuted during Above & Beyond’s ABGT500 Deep Set, PROFF and Igor Garanin add an organic house spin to the original, leading with an array of percussion and intricate countermelodies.

James Grant and Jody Wisternoff collaborate with British producer LEGATO on ‘Petals’. With releases on All Day I Dream, Eton Messy, When We Dip and Nightcolours, LEGATO demonstrates his distinctive style in his latest collaboration.

Duke Boara returns to Anjunadeep with ‘Woodwick Close’. Having first debuted on Anjunadeep 12, Duke Boara has since gone on to release his debut album ‘11am’ which has gained over 8 million streams and support on BBC Radio 1.

Anjunadeep welcomes Natascha Polké back to the label with a James Grant & Jody Wisternoff edit of ‘Loose Lips’. Natascha debuted on the label in 2022 with ‘Cranes’, a collaboration with Nils Hoffmann, and has had further releases on This Never Happened, Hive Music and Definition:Music. Leading with Natascha’s enchanting vocals, James and Jody stamp their mark with signature percussive-led rhythms and warm chords.

‘Freefly’ is the second collaborative cut on the EP, with Ukrainian producer Nōpi, Jody Wisternoff & James Grant. Nōpi first debuted on Anjunadeep in 2020 and has since gone on to release his outstanding four-track EP ‘Gray Cloud’ on the label.

Rounding off the EP is a Jody Wisternoff & James Grant remix of LAR ‘Collide’. Hailing from the UK, LAR debuted in 2021 with his release on Monstercat Silk and has since gone on to release on Colorize, Eton Messy and Zerothree.

Sound Quelle, the versatile and exceedingly gifted Russian veteran, returns to our label for the second time in 2018 with the elegant 6-track EP "Ethereal." After the tremendous success of his "Shoreline" EP earlier this year, we are graced with six mesmerizing new cuts, which explore various shades of deep & progressive house.

The opening track of the EP, fittingly entitled "Ethereal," features the ravishing vocals of Canadian vocalist Brandon Mignacca. Extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world, "Ethereal" begins with an extended, beat-less intro, centering on airy vocals and delicate melodies, evoking pleasantries to all. Warm-hearted melodies and an infectious groove take hold a few minutes in; later on, Brandon's honeyed vocal takes on a more acutely emotive quality, as he passionately delivers the titular refrain. This is an extraordinary cut from two criminally underrated musicians.

The future is now with "Orlaz," a futuristic deep tune that centers on a beautiful and awe-inspiring liquid-y groove. As the track progresses, the listener experiences myriad out-of-body moments, induced by a variety of calm and enchanting melodic motifs and a mini drop that suits the chilled, sensual mood perfectly. 

The ebullient "LoMe" has a distinctly "happy disco" feel, thanks to waves of euphoric melodies and a hypnotic vocal sample, which gives the song its intriguing name. A distinctively 80s-influenced rhythm section and a soft-spoken vocal hook ("plug me in") help launch the listener into a hypnotic frenzy. Sound Quelle continues to pour on the retro hooks, not the least of which is a delicious guitar theme in the song's latter half. 

Back to the deep we go with "Angelos & Daemones," which serves up a groove that induces immediate head-bobbing and foot tapping. At the quarter turn, the listener is met with echoes of the hauntingly beautiful vocal solo, which is soon to follow. Finally, in the drop section, the listener feels compelled to grab a loved one and head straight to the dance floor, courtesy of a series of climactic flourishes.

Sound Quelle's marvelous "Chanunpa" welcomes you to a lush jungle of deep house euphoria. With a powerful summertime groove that begins with the sound of beautiful birds and elegant bongo drums, "Chanunpa" is the perfect soundtrack for beginning one's day. The most tropical flavor of the whole EP, "Chanunpa" offers infections vocal hooks, slide whistles, and beach-flavored atmospheric delights that create an all-around blissful vibe. 

Sound Quelle's magnificent closing tune, "Resa," completes the aural voyage of the "Ethereal" EP. A cavernous bassline is periodically punctuated by a laser like sound effect, as well as a variety of other captivating deep touches, including a mystical female vocal hook, which hovers in the background. A groovy series of male vocal stabs appears in the second half of the track, leading to a transcendent finish that leaves the listener spiritually fulfilled from his odyssey across the universe (and back again).

One of the most talked about remixes of 2019 gets an official release as Camille Luciani’s stunning rework of The Temper Trap’s 2008 global hit ’Sweet Disposition’ comes out on Renaissance Records / BMG on 13 December. 

Camille Luciani, one of France’s brightest new dance talents, creates a stirring and highly atmospheric update of the Australian indie rock outfit’s seminal 2008 anthem, which has achieved cult status in recent years, featuring in the film ‘(500) Days of Summer’ and clocking over 260 million streams on Spotify alone. 

“I’d been a fan of the band for more than 10 years”, explains Camille, “Their music was always there for me; one day I just decided to give them something in return and chose Sweet Disposition, which is a timeless track that I always wanted to bring my vision to. So, initially it was more for fun than an official release. It was only after sending it to Dougy and Lorenzo - the band themselves - that things began to develop. I’m delighted it’s now getting an official release.” 

The remix takes the listener on an emotional journey, emphasising the brooding percussion alongside clever layering of the blissful vocal. The poignant piano refrain and swirling, intense beats result in a beautiful, yet powerful reinvention, perfect for peak-time dance-floors, which has already received many ID requests on social media. Major support has come from globally-renowned duo Tale Of Us who have played it as their closing track on many of the world’s biggest stages, including Printworks London, Gashouder Amsterdam and Ushuaïa Ibiza, each time receiving a euphoric, ‘hands in the air’ crowd reaction.

One of Silk Digital's leading lights, Shingo Nakamura, is responsible for our latest offering, "There For Me", which was initially previewed on Shingo's own "Only Silk 01" compilation. Since the debut of this album in late 2012, Shingo has become a co-host of the Frisky radio show of the same name and has continued to garner radio support from the industry elite.

The Original Mix of "There For Me" transports the listener to Shingo's homeland of Japan, with sweeping chords and stunning cinematic instrumentation from start to finish. This is truly one of Shingo's most inspiring works to date, as it not only possesses a warm groove, but an intricate and richly melodic lead.

Breakthrough artist KIWAMU offers the first of two interpretations in the single; a fellow Japanese artist, KIWAMU has gained momentum this past year, with a variety of high-profile contributions to Otographic Music, the nation's leading progressive and trance imprint. His version is much more atmospheric and deep, but equally evocative. In the main break, the listener feels himself traveling across the fog-swept landscapes of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Finally, longtime contributor Monojoke, who has been supported over the years by the likes of Above & Beyond, Solarstone, Matt Darey, and many more, offers an ornate rendering. The talented Polish veteran once again masterfully enhances the rhythm, with a variety of "indigenous" percussive elements. Meanwhile, in the background, we are treated to the distant echoes of the main chord progression, as well as provocative pads.
