In the early summer of 2009 The Falls embarked on a residency at the Hotel Hollywood in Surry Hills every Wednesday night. Inspired by Communion, a night in the UK founded by Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), Kevin Jones (Cherbourg) and producer Ian Grimble www.facebook.com/CommunionMusic, this little known gem in the Sydney music scene has been steadily growing into a community of musicians, industry and fans alike, and provides a platform for new bands in the Sydney folk/alt-country scene. The night has seen the likes of Lanie Lane, Georgia Fair and Passenger grace the stage and has become closely associated with the nu-folk movement that seems to be growing here.

This year, Wednesday nights transformed into Folk Club. Folk Club is a place where songwriter's come together to meet each-other and share their songwriting with like-minded souls. Each week the audience have the chance to get a more intimate glimpse of the artists and learn a little more about them, the stories behind their songs and their songwriting.

Three artists perform live at the Oxford Art Factory each Wednesday night. The third artist each week is the featured artist. Our host, the lovely Emma Swift (who also hosts In The Pines on FBi radio), interview's them during their set about their songs, their inspiration, their weekend :) This part of the night is filmed and a clip is available online the following Monday. Founder’s of Folk Club, The Falls, are the artists in residence and play the middle spot each week with a soloist or duo in the opening the night.

The Front Porch Country Band is an American country music band comprised of six members brought together from successful solo careers to record and perform as one group. Their music primarily falls within the country genre with subtle influences of rock and folk. The band’s distinct sound is also influenced by the versatility of its performers, with each member playing a variety of instruments and sharing time on lead vocals.

A weekly show presented by a small, rag-tag group of friends with a common love of musics with folk and country sensibilities. We take turns playing records, airing exclusive sessions and live recordings while attempting to join the whole with liberal helpings of hokum and questionable insight as we share our latest obsessions with one another.

Since modest beginnings in 2005, we've been crafting Simple Folk Radio as a way to champion live music, to promote artists, 'outsider' or otherwise, who are in no danger of bothering the pop charts anytime soon, who you may never have stumbled across if a loved one hadn't ranted about their merits in the late snug of an alehouse, and then to float their art aloft upon the airwaves.

We'd like to invite you to listen because we've admired you from afar as someone who clearly appreciates that, in these end times of psychic armageddon and pop tart meltdown, there's primal joys and a perverse warmth to be had from gathering with like minds to enjoy stringed instruments and naked songs of lust, wonder, despair and Herculean drinking.
