This EP is a whole sensory experience in itself. If you close your eyes and let yourself go, a vast desert - as far as the eye can see - will present itself.

The first track, Atacama, is led by a rhythm which takes form in the low frequencies. A few sounds appear, of which the origins are unknown, to mix themselves into this sonic retranscription of a walk in the world's most arid environment.

Mercury then follows, beginning in a contemplative way with deep synth layers, before gradually increasing in intensity through a sequence of hypnotic sounds. Each note is witness to a tumultuous environment.

Biocym's remix takes you even deeper into a realm. Entrancing, almost seductive, this take on Mercury shows you the darker side of the desert.

Tatooine, defined by its pure bass and sprinkled with de-structured and luminous sounds, feels like a musical hush, putting an end to the tornado of emotions experienced until now.

It serves as a preview for his upcoming EP by the same name, set to be released in the beginning of December via Midgar. "Work Work Work" is showcasing 5 techno cuts in Tammo's distinct stripped-down style, where he expertly links the dots within mesmerizing drum grooves, tied together by subtle imperfections. Wonky rhythms layered with loads of sub and razor sharp twitches could be seen as a blueprint for Hesselink's productions. Excellent percussive club tools for playful DJ sets, where tools as we know them could be flat and loopy, in these jams there's a whole lot more to explore.

For AI-38 Italian duo LF58 (Giuseppe Tillieci and Filippo Scorcucchi) present ‘Radials’. A site-specific concept piece that was recorded live on location in Venice, Radials showcases the powerful and transportive sound world which LF58 have become known for. 

Radials takes its name from the homonymous exhibition created by the Roman artist group Sbagliato, for the 2023 Biennale Architettura of Venice. 

Following a landmark renovation of the Fondacoo dei Tedeschi by renowned Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, Sbagliato proposed the spatial transformation of the historic sixteenth-century building that would blur the lines between fiction and the real. 

The concept, to create unexpected “voids” within the fixed order of architecture, prompts the observer to question the fleeting and subjective nature of the reality that surrounds us. The building’s main loggia - a series of five archways exposed to the Canal Grande - take on a theme of reproduction and multiplication, giving rise to infinite perspectives in a dizzying mise en abyme. Through the portal-like potentialities of the loggia, the visitor enters the gateway to a fluid realm of distorted time and space. 

LF58 arose to translate the visual concept of Radials into sound, delivered through a special quadraphonic concert performed at the Fondaco dei Tedeschi in October 2023. Quadraphonics, with its four distinct audio channels, were used in direct correlation with the visual elements of the installation to immerse the audience in a dreamlike, multisensory experience. 

The opening scene of running waters and the cacophony of the bustling city streets quickly dissolves under the chiming of nearby bells, as hidden liminal spaces become revealed. It’s not long before all remnants of the ordinary are left behind, as the listener is submerged into the shimmering frequencies of parallel dimensions. 

A spatial soundscape of ever-moving forms and colours, Radials descends into ever-deeper waters. As the facade of what was once known falls away, a transportive journey of mind-body alterations begins.

It's an honor to welcome Amsterdam's Loek Frey to our series, whose meticulous attention to detail and eminent experimentalism command the mind's attention like no other. The OQAD label head and Omen Wapta collaborator invites us to peer delicately beyond the edge, unveiling a hyperintense, subsonic blur through which a primordial palette begins to emerge. I've been looking forward to sharing this episode for quite some time, and to revel in this blend of artistry and precision was truly worth the wait. Thanks Loek!

Priori’s hit EP Pareidolia gets a well deserved remix treatment. The relation between Priori and Midgar started early 2023 with the release of his Pareidolia EP, where a remix for Keplrr followed quickly the year after. Now, early 2025, a group of close friends and admired artists were invited to rework the Pareidolia’s originals.

Midgar affiliate Forest Drive West uses the opportunity to present not one but two remixes. Presenting one half-time 85 bpm twist of Hazard and another slow-paced murky techno groover. Originally from Montreal, Maara forms the Canadian connection and she turns Memory Palace into a beautiful bouncy dub-techno floater. Sound experimentalist Notte Infinita takes his turn on Pareidolia’s title track and creates some magnificent eyes-closed drum & bass hypnotism. At last, Amsterdam’s upsammy brings back the light with her iconic playful approach. She flips the steady groove of Glass Shards into a jumpy interplay of rhythms and joy.

This is a sonic voyage beyond the visible, a meditation on the unseen forces that shape our perception. Let yourself drift and discover what lies between the shadows.

Premiere: Katatonic Silentio [FS001]

Much like a being gliding through a dimly lit forest, smoothly shifting between the trees, and branches. Never once announcing themselves, or giving undue attention to itself until necessary. The aptly named Hunter builds and builds tension ever so higher before giving way in the final moments where all eyes shine on the scene ahead. Through deft use of chimes, flutes and guttural melodic growls, the atmosphere is kept to that of an untamed land, fraught with excitement and the unknown. With all elements elevated by the choice of a half-time tempo, adding rhythm and a delightful sense of energy.

Though the moniker may be new, the artists behind it are no stranger to the scene or Delayed. Vand and !nertia have joined forces under Vanertia for a four track release titled Kronicles, forthcoming as the latest chapter on the lovely Alpenglühen imprint. Both artists' sounds are represented well here, with Vand bringing his signature dubbed out vibes, that compliment, and are expounded on by !nertia’s more atmospheric and hypnotic moods.

Be on the lookout for Vanertia’s ‘Kronicles’ release on vinyl via Alpenglühen on July 18th.
