Since its launch in 2015, Parabel has established itself as one of the main Swedish techno imprint with very well received EPs by local artists Joel Mull, Patrick Siech, Nima Khak, The Persuader, Petter B or Patrik Skoog.

Parabel steps up with Joel Mull’s fourth LP ‘Arrow Of Time’, his first album in eight years and the first LP to be released on the label.

If you’ve listened to techno in the past twenty years, Joel Mull won’t need any introduction, with three previous LPs released on prestigious labels Inside, Harthouse and Truesoul, and regular EPs appearing on Drumcode, Cocoon, Mary Go Wild or Kanzlermant to name a few.

This new album is influenced by traveling, time and the future’s point of direction. It is melancholic, cinematic, with the soul of techno at its heart. Here is the concept hiding behind it in the artist’s own words:

”We all have moments when we think about time, I do, especially when I travel. There is a certain loose feeling when I write music and sketch on ideas while I’m in a moving object that is blasting throughout space, such as a plane or a train.

These moments are more intense for me than, for example, when I’m working on ideas in the studio. The studio is amazing but it can also be too structured. When I look out of a window and have a moving canvas in front, it directly adds emotion and easily inspires me.

‘Arrow Of Time’ is the inspiration to this album’s title. It is both the time capsule that we all travel in and the journey that you do every time you listen to music.

Most of the ideas behind the tracks have then been recorded in my home studio adding a few instruments to the mix such as the Roland sh101, Lyra 8 the Roland tr8 and through the Elektron Analog Heat to get it to glow a bit more.Then processing it on my laptop with plugins from UAD, Softube, Soundtoys and with my favorite software Ableton.

The album could not sound complete and get released to the outside world without the help of my favorite mastering engineer Walter Coelho.”

BIO:
Techno music always was a substance, made of contrasts - it was born in Motor City, befriended man and machine, combined live emotions and technical precision. These features should be the best to describe music from young Russian producer Aleks Unbalance.
Born in Siberia, Unbalance debuted in 2008 and it took a few years to create his own unique style. In his music you can find distinct symbiosis of strong emotions and industrial themes, which is eclectic and conjoins with technically accurate treatment in music story making.
In a series of records, released on the same name record label, Unbalance could realize his ideas fully - this fresh sound was a bombshell and it was demonstrated with his live performance in Berghain club, world’s techno Mecca, only a year and series of gigs in another legendary club Tresor.
When got support of techno scene old stagers, Unbalance proceed to develop his ideas, expanding a verges of techno and collaborating with a lot of significant artists in Rebalance project. In the artist's achievment list vinyl releases on such labels as A.R.T.S , Pole Group, Rawax, Solid Groove, participation in the legendary Fabric compilation from Steffi, etc. In 2018, artist released his debut LP "TEN" on own label Unbalance Records, completing the history of the imprint with a multifaceted and a deep utterance at the border between techno, ambient and broken rhythms. At the moment, Aleks is a resident and one of the ideologists of the techno-association Monasterio.
In his performances Unbalance endeavors to combine a whole techno ages, gives his due to classic techno, gets inspiration in futuristic sound and mixing it with a modern techno wave, which is what he is. His style of performing is so close to his own works and it creates unique atmosphere on a dance floor, no matter is it private party or big rave in Berlin Berghain.

🌲 Monument is a global community bound together by the transformative power of music, art and human connection.

*DJ and producer from Stockholm, Sweden.
Joel Mull's career spans over three decades. With a background studying classical music, singing in choirs and playing in bands, Joel found electronic music at a young age as a source of freedom. His first experience came from DJ’ing in the chill-out areas of rave parties in his native Stockholm during the early 90’s.
With his roots from Germany, Hamburg, he moved to the city in 1994, and worked as a resident DJ for 3 years at one of the biggest techno clubs in Germany, Unit Club. This was an important period for him and as a DJ; It taught him how to control the energy of the night on the dance floor, from warm up sets to 10h marathon sets.

With releases on music labels worldwide along with Cari Lekebusch, Robert Leiner, Adam Beyer and Jesper Dahlbäck he counts to the first wave of Swedish techno producer who became known around the world as the "Swedish techno sound".
He has produced over 100 releases and under various names such as Icarus, Gotzkowsky and most recent under his alias Damm.
He often refers to himself and his craft as a sound architect, and if you’ve ever experienced his club sets, you’ll understand why.
Under his ambient and electronica alias Damm, Joel revives one of his earliest aliases and expands upon this discipline even further.
