The vastness of the Universe, the human soul and the dissolution of time are interconnected subjects and topics of countless fables and myths, all derived from human fascination with the infinite abyss of the cosmos and the unknown. Electronic music is a tool with which we enhance these imaginary landscapes and it thrives in the prurient and inquisitive mind. Nørbak’s “Flor do Fatalismo” is designed as a transposition of a deep human feeling into music: the longing. A paradox between the void and our necessity to belong. Each track in this body of work happens in a hypothetical scenery and stands on its own as if questioning our coherence, spirituality and the sovereignty of the human mind. Penetrating, spell-binding, unrestrained but eventually earthly and familiar, the abstract character of Artur’s music invites ingenuity and artistry from both the performers and the crowd.

French born, Berlin based Angioma makes his debut on @French born, Berlin based Angioma makes his debut on AFR with the Divergence EP. Heading up his own Room Trax label the young producer has slowing been making his way through the ranks with his tough yet refined and hypnotic sound. This well crafted EP is also backed with a stunning remix from the incredibly talented, Nørbak.

Title track, Divergence opens with warping baselines, tripped out synths and jacked up percussion. Slow Motion heads down a deeper more contemplative path but still packs attitude. Break Your Chains continues with the hypnotic theme but focuses firmly on power and drive. Closing out the EP, Techno’s latest rising star, Nørbak, deliver a creatively unique, broken-beat and atmospheric interpretation of title track Divergence.  with the Divergence EP. Divergence EP

Premiere: Angioma "Divergence" (Nørbak Remix) - Animal Farm

A little more than 2 years ago, labelhead honchos Paul & Dave released their “Nobody is Anywhere EP” on their own imprint Dynamic Reflection. It was a statement about the status quo in the techno scene back then, where many artists didn’t know which way to go. Ironically enough, the contrary is very true as we speak.  

 The “Anybody is Nowhere EP” responds to their previous work and reflects the uncomfortable time we are currently living in, driven by uncertainty. Even though these are not the happiest thoughts, the track titles show that there is hope left. “Emergence” is a very seductive but psychedelic trip towards “Discharge”, which feels like Abstract Division discharges themselves completely. The last track, “Polarise” points out the current divided society, which sets some doubtful thoughts about the future.  

Scandinavian rebel and Northern Electronics patron Anthony Linell provides his interpretation of the track “Emergence” and delivers a distinctive remix as only he can.

Parisian – Benales has been honing his skills since the end of the 90s with impeccable taste and steady determination. As an avid record collector, vinyl only DJ and enthusiast of Techno and House – his DJ sets and tracks combine the raw, dark and deep elements of these musical forms with a firm nod in the direction of Detroit. His talent allows him to put himself in many clubs in Europe like Tresor, Rex Club, Le sucre, The Gate (Georgia)... but also as a regular guest of Concrete when it’s not rare to find Benales surrounded by guest of solid reputation like DVS1, Zadig, Surgeon, Steve Bicknell, Dj Pete, James Ruskin. Fascinated by Techno and coldness of electronic music, he released some EP’s and remixes on Sino (Technasia Label), and notably “Elements part 1 & part 2” have marked his spot in the international scene. Over the years, he had several releases on outstanding labels like KEY Vinyl, Suburban Avenue, Analog Solutions, Knotweed, Diffuse Reality and many more to follow.

Press Release:
Artur Szatkowski - the person behind the moniker - is an up and coming techno producer, but not a newbie to the scene overall. Going by Essence for over 20 years, he was a DJ and a promoter, responsible for hundreds of parties all over Poland. When he took some time off from party life back in 2018, he started learning production skills and currently he is focused on his own music, heavily inspired by his lifelong musical influences. Having released his first EP in late 2021 on International Day Off, Artur is now making his way back - releasing and performing as We Call It Voight-Kampff. We Call It Voight-Kampff’s music was picked up by quite a few techno artists in their DJ sets - including Ben Sims (who also released a collaboration track between We Call It Voight-Kampff and Szmer on the latter’s EP on Symbolism), Dave Clarke, Rodhad, Kr!z, Doc Scott and Freddy K.

As a sign of solidarity, and an attempt to bring a shimmer of light into the current dark times, Monument has gathered a selection of tracks for a VA compilation. All profits from the release will go to the Norwegian Refugee Council’s fundraising campaign for the people of Ukraine, who need help now.

The diverse musical contributions were created by artists in over ten different countries - spanning from Scotland to Georgia, and Finland to Spain - reflecting the uniting power music can have beyond borders. The release’s sound palette ranges from introspective ambient pieces to dark and broken beats as well as more hopeful timbres.

Guiseppe Tillieci, Gianluca Meloni and Iacopo Sposaro from Enisslab studio have been so generous to offer the mastering for all the tracks. We wish to deeply thank both them and each of the contributing artists for lending their creative energy to this collaborative gesture for peace.
