MNMT Premiere: Polygonia – Desire for Power

The Camera Magmatica compilation is focusing on out-of-the-radar experimental electronic music, each time curated by an artist. The second volume of this series was entrusted to Jacopo, Midgar label boss and longtime friend.

Jacopo selected 6 tracks by 6 different artists: Munich based multitalented Polygonia, Harmony Rec affiliated artist Shoal, Swiss rhythm master Agonis from Amenthia Recordings, London based Taiwanese artist and sound designer Jin [靜], French born and Berlin based ambient and texture prodigies Ōtone and - Midgar ambassador - Ground Tactics.

 The proceeds of this release will be donated to Ukrainian Charitable Foundation "Dlya Tebe" humanitarian aid to Ukrainian children.

All tracks selected and compiled by Jacopo from Midgar Records.

For our fifth exhibition we wanted to merge a work by the master Leonardo da Vinci with 3 tracks by the promising Italian producer Biocym plus three splendid remixes by Polygonia, Unclear and Kontinum.

The Dama con l'ermellino is an oil painting on wood by Leonardo da Vinci, datable to 1488-1490. The woman portrayed is almost certainly identified with Cecilia Gallerani. Kept for years in the Czartoryski Museum in Krakow, from May 2012 to May 7, 2017 the painting was exhibited at the Wawel Castle, also in Krakow. On 19 May 2017 the work is temporarily moved to the National Museum in Krakow until 20 December 2019 and then returned to the Czartoryski Museum.

Under the twilight, the samurai awakens, the echo of his blade whispering through complex sequences. Deeper, in the sonic foliage, the quantum forest hums. Cryptic machine dialogues flicker, casting rhythmic shadows across an acoustic labyrinth. Patterns ignite into a dance of sparks and sounds flame out into untamed panoramas. From this chaos, Pyro, the deity of flame, emerges—relentless energy personified.

As the sun sets, a lone figure crystallizes. The rhythm softens to a reflective pace, unveiling an aura of introspection, and in this quiet, the derelict, a symbol of the unchosen path, lingers.

'Samurai' explores rhythm and boundless soundscapes, crafting an elusive narrative through textured cadences and intricate patterns. From the creative mind of SHFT, this four-track saga spins a tale balanced delicately on the edge of perception. 

Producer, DJ, and mastering engineer, SHFT, is set to release his latest EP, 'Samurai,' on September 18th via Qilla Records.

This four-track EP navigates the eclectic corners of ambient, downtempo, and techno, crafting a captivating auditory journey that lingers on the brink of sensory perception. The title track, 'Samurai,' initiates the EP with a fusion of atmospheric ambiance and psychedelic synth lines, illustrating a scene of a silent warrior under twilight skies, orchestrating a dance of courage and suspense.

'Samurai EP' defies genre boundaries, oscillating between dance floor dynamism and resonant narrative depth. It stands as a testament to SHFT's evolution as an artist, showcasing his distinctive sonic signature and his command over diverse production techniques.
