John has proven his producer skills releasing music on many labels, some of which are Diffuse Reality, Fur:ther Sessions,  and Santiago-based Dosis Records. 

Today he made for us a brilliant mix with ethereal sound and immersive atmospheres, but yet energetic and full of emotions, with many of his productions included.

HOC radio X Mostra - Massa Djset

Massa (@massa), Catalan DJ and producer, is one of the main names in the local Deep Techno scene, his sound is presented as elegant, deep and mental, high level Deep Techno. In 2016 he created the label Hidden Traffic (@hiddentraffic), based in Barcelona through which he publishes in physical format prior to digital and releases fine works by artists such as Deepbass, Ness, Blazej Malinowski, Reggy Van Oers and Massa himself. He performed in classic clubs of the city such as Moog or Laut and released his work on important labels on the international scene such as Affin Records, Oslated and Informa Records among others. A fine mixer, an upright artist and a lover of what he does. * Written by subradio.

Closing set for the first day of performances curated at Castell de Montjuïc for Mostra 22 (@mostrabcn) in Barcelona. The first edition of the Catalan festival gathered a total of 1,000 people along two different locations and four days of musical acts. Among the 26 artists in the line-up that provided high quality avant-garde and experimental electronic sounds.

Clarence Rise [France]

We've already read that his music is dark and cold. It is also beautiful and subtle. French producer Clarence Rise has developed a strong, intense and singular musical identity, where incisive techno meets the icy atmospheres of coldwave. Some people characterize his work as Cinematic or Cold Techno, with a strong focus on complex rhythms, dark sound design and contemplative melancholy.
Author of numerous releases on different labels (Khoros Records, Chez KitoKat, Bella Ursa, Spazio Magnetico...), this DJ and live artist makes his shows real journeys, as powerful as introspective.

Âsan is a DJ, producer and one half of Cellar Door Records based in the suburbs of NYC who has been creating and performing raw underground electronic music. He has been making a name for himself in the scene with his hard-hitting beats and obscure sound design. Having released on labels such as Aedi Records and his own imprint Cellar Door, Âsan sounds is unmistakably relentless. His DJ sets are a story telling on their own and somewhat unpredictable, weaving everything in his arsenal. 

Letter:

“First of all, thank you for the invitation. Mixes don’t come very naturally to me. The whole idea behind playing for an audience and playing for yourself is a balance I always try to strive for. As someone involved in the underground scene, I’ve always been myself in-front of listeners and dancers. It’s been almost a year since I put out a mix and so it feels fresh to get back infront of home decks and record something. 

I wanted to indulge my listeners with the mix for Vortex. I remember going to an underground rave on the outskirts of Amsterdam in a bunker that felt like entering a long tunnel; and as you got closer to the floor the energy and the anticipation kept increasing. I wanted to unravel the same feeling and that’s the theme behind this mix. 

Coming year is all about collaborations and focusing on both personal projects as well as putting out great music on Cellar Door. Happy listening and stay safe.

Happy Sunday, 5th Dayers. We’re happy to be back with podcast #170, coming at you from DJ and TRÊVE cofounder, resident and curator, Medulla Oblongata.

Medulla Oblongata’s doorway into the world of electronic music was via a long-standing immersion In the ambient world, the inspiration from which can be heard throughout much of his artistic outputs, including hybrid ambient sets incorporating tape samples, drone machine loops, and synths. The musical universe he inhabits thus encompasses ambient and drone, through to deeper hypnotic and more driving techno, with a more recent gig being an all-night long ambient -through-to-deep set alongside Terence Fixmer at KALT in Strasbourg. 

This mix recorded for On the 5th Day is inspired by his November 2022 gig with Dasha Rush and Justine Perry at KALT, and thus you can expect an immersive dance floor orientated trip to set you up beautifully for the week ahead.

Mix 73 is a very special treat from the Italian duo Plants Army Revolver, formed in 2014 by Birgan Valentin and Marco Ragni. Their refined ability to craft organic and analog soundscapes has captured the attention of the scene's most lauded outlets, including recent live sets for Hypnus & Inveins, and a just-released EP "Yguana" on Shifted's Avian label. Far from content to rest on their creative laurels, the pair have recorded a unique live set for our series, one which unfolds beautifully from beginning to end and provides a precious glimpse into their studio process.
