Tsurugi is an individual deeply embedded in the underground techno scene, with his feet and passion firmly rooted. Tim may well have been our first-ever international attendee, visiting from Washington in the United States. He mentioned coming alone after spotting the lineup on social media, using it as the perfect excuse to revisit the UK for a musical journey. Since then, he has committed to this annual dance, becoming a true hero of Above Below, cherished dearly in our hearts.

Tsurugi has released podcasts for platforms such as Monument, Sure Thing, and The Vortex, while also gracing the stages of clubs in Berlin, Tokyo, and the United States. In his podcasts, Tsurugi smoothly blends nature and techno, reflecting the symbiosis felt in the Chiltern Hills at Above Below. With deep groove and elegance, he guides listeners through a journey that ebbs and flows, keeping them anticipating the next shift in energy. In anticipation of Atom™ and Tobias' tour of the US over the next two weekends (July 29 - Stereo Montreal, July 30 - The Bunker New York,  August 5 - Surface Tension SF, and August 6 - Lunar Lodge Colorado), we dug up this set, recorded at The Bunker New York showcase at Anthology at The Works in Detroit on May 25, 2015.  This three hour live and improvised set of hypnotizing mind control music closed out Movement weekend in epic fashion.  The room was still packed when they finished at 6am.

Producer, musician, dj, photographer, eclectic italian artist Brando Lupi blends a unique style of hypontic techno with deep haunting melodies and visionary sound-scapes: his influences range from industrial-rock to experimental electronica to modern classical.. The Italian native has had a history working alongside a number of talented artists.

He's the owner of the label Detune Records,founded in 2000 with Attilio Tucci.

Brando’s releases have been picked up by the likes of Orange Groove , Kompakt , Samuvar , Dewtone Recordings , Mental Groove , Detune Records and Elettronica Romana. He has composed a score for the movie “La Solitudine Dei Numeri Primi”, distributed by Medusa,with the soundtrack signed by Mike Patton ,leader of Faith No More,and presented at the 67th Venice Film Festival. 

He currently resides in Rome, spreading experimental spiritual frequencies across the world.
