For this week we wanted to stir things up a bit by stepping out of our comfort zone. We love Techno, but most important we love music! Our guest for this week is Mikke Metal, a Copenhagen based musician known for numerous releases on Echocord and Kompakt. Both respectable labels in the electronic music scene. 

According to Mikkel, his approach for this mix was to go for tracks that are patient, eclectic, deep, cool and atmospheric rather than dancy stuff. So the result is a quite diverse selection of tracks.

“I started out, half by laziness, not wanting to beatmix, and then decided to make it principle not to beatmix and respect the original tempo of the tracks. Instead I allowed myself to work with effects etc, in order to focus on tonal instead of rhythmical transitions”

A heavy-hearted tribute to the sonic design and emotional potency of Mika Vainio, here exploring a brief cross-section of his vast ambient and experimental catalog. Mika shaped how I perceive and present music. His work was, and will continue to be, an incalculable influence on my sets at Mysteries of the Deep and beyond. Rest in Power.

Kyynelin 2 will be a tribute to his more aggressive, floor-friendly sounds, presented in a live context only.

Chris SSG needs little introduction. As co-founder of the hugely influential (former) MNML SSGS blog and now organiser of MNML SSGS events, he has for years been at the cutting edge of electronic music in his hometown of Tokyo and abroad. Eschewing conventional dancefloor sensibilities, his music moves effortlessly between ambient, experimental, komische and abstract techno.

His Patterns of Perception 39 is a journey through a range of his current musical foci, and was recorded live at @dredrecordsberlin 's Space Cakes event on 12 August 2018, drawing from an emotional palate inspired by the summer in which it was recorded.

It's my pleasure to welcome Yan to the podcast, co-founder of Harmony Rec. and beloved resident of Prague's Ankali. We finally crossed paths in Japan last fall, playing together in Shibuya in what became one of my favorite memories of the year before heading off to the one-and-only Labyrinth.
