Au milieu de ce décor maritime se trouve une gare imposante et remplit de secrets. Souvent pressés, les voyageurs passent et repassent sans prendre le temps de contempler ce monument pourtant rempli de détails intéressants et très riches…

A l’intérieur, nous retrouvons un avant-goût de la ville avec deux mosaïques représentant un panorama du port de La Rochelle.

En sortant, sous les rayons du soleil, une pierre calcaire et ses marquises illuminent cette façade resplendissante du 19ème siècle. En levant les yeux nous pouvons contempler cette grande tour de 45 mètres de haut, contenant une horloge et de chaque côté, deux statues féminines avec des drapés vaporeux. En observant de plus près, une faune marine se dévoile à l'égard des coquilles saint jacques, des crabes, des langoustes et des congres… 

Malgré une gare magistrale, l’excitation et les pensées des visiteurs est éclipsée par l’idée de prendre des bains de mer. En effet, en 1857, la bourgeoisie mettait 10h Paris-La Rochelle. Un long voyage mais une fois arrivée à destination, une grande allée ouvrait la ville et reliait la gare au port… A travers ce podcast nous découvrons que sous les bruits ferroviaires se cache une silencieuse histoire rochelaise.

Strange, but true:
I love medieval music on traditional instruments, that was featured in the ZILLO magazine (which is gone meanwhile - a pitty!).
However, modern electronic dance music being presented by the SONIC SEDUCER journal is fascinating me, too.
So why should I not try to marry this unequal couple?
