Tectonic Sound lays down the gauntlet for the future direction of the label. The compilation comprises many producers making their Tectonic debut, including re:ni, Beatrice M., Yushh, Flora Yin Wong, and Sicaria, alongside stalwarts like 2562, Shed, and Distance. It’s an exhilarating 24-track journey through experimental, bass-heavy electronic music, with almost all tracks created by the artists specifically with Tectonic’s sound in mind - at an intersection where dubstep and techno meet.

001 - Pugilist - Monument

The concept for Ruff Kutz as an idea came about last year after doing the 3 releases exclusive to Bandcamp as an outlet for my own productions that didn't get picked up by labels. Lots of people messaged me about vinyl. including a big push from dear friend and musical luminary Stormn Norm aka Mr Modern Hypnosis. He put me in touch with Sequence Distribution and they have been amazing to work with - helping me get this off the ground quickly!

The label will be the main outlet for most of my productions going forward - focussing on quality over quantity and with no set rules for a particular sound or tempo: expect the unexpected! The first release encompasses what I think is my sound, and is a nod to my musical past whilst aiming to remain fresh and create timeless music.

Techno influence has always been something I have tried to incorporate into my productions, but I have never released a full Techno track - until now! The A side track 'Monument' is a rolling piece of soulful machine music, made to induce euphoria on the dancefloor with its 10 min run time, Dubby chords, groovy Latin percussion and melancholic pads. Homage to a lot of the 90s and early noughties Techno sounds that I am so fond of!

I couldn't think of doing the first release on the label without at least 1 Dubstep track on it, and given it's the genre I cut my teeth in - I did 2 inna pug-step style. Deep and dubbed out. B1 'Mannequin' is an introspective half-stepper with a laid back, techy feel to it. The staccato sub bass keeps the track grooving under the delicate chords and is sure to get the scoops moving!

On the B2 we have 'Run It' a hazy 2-step style tune (so hot right now) with forward thinking production, an off kilter groove, hypnotic bass and a few classy wubs thrown in for good measure. Think Horsepower Productions meets Livity Sound. Stinky!

Crawler goes wider, a giddy stepper that’s dynamic swing twirls excitedly on a 2 step pivot until dissolving into a plummeting stomp for ignition. Season Seven sharpens up with a seductive pout-lip, moving loose and free across the stretchy wobbles, peppered vocals and sunrise-addled serenity. On remix duties, a pioneer and modern hero apply their inimitable touch. Exit Records hero dBridge ( @dbridge_exitrecords )restrings Meltdown as a chromatic DnB roller, gliding taut within the original’s hook to the finest looping hoods-up, heads-down conclusion. NVST’s ( @ghettonast ) OLDSCHOOL VERSION of Season Seven unlocks its journey potential, the psychedelic tremors galloping deep across the wriggling path, digging into her unrivalled excavation of techno deconstruction.

We’re thrilled to present the second part of the joint compilation between Tracklistings and Division Virtuel Records!

Following the success of the first volume released in mid-June, we continue the adventure with this second chapter - once again showcasing a diverse and powerful selection of electro tracks. And good news: the third and final part will be dropping in just a few weeks.

A few months ago, Grégory from Tracklistings and Atix from Division Virtuel came up with the idea to launch a compilation that would merge the energy of both our projects. The response was overwhelmingly positive - on our side, and across the electro community.

We received an incredible number of high-quality submissions, making the selection process both exciting and difficult. The result: a rich and diverse compilation to be released in three volumes.

This project took time to shape, involving many artists and contributors. We wanted to do things right - respecting each track, each artist, and crafting a consistent and powerful result.

Tracklistings has been offering mixes and exclusives around electronic music since 2008, without compromise, and has gradually specialized in underground electro. It has become a reference for fans of the genre.

Division Virtuel, based in Lyon and run by Atix, is a label that has been active for over 15 years. After several evolutions, it is now clearly focused on electro and electro-techno.

Pugilist is a Scottish/Kiwi producer and DJ living in Melbourne making a wide variety of underground electronic music. He has released music on record labels such as Modern Hypnosis, Samurai Records, 3024 to name a few and has recently launched his own imprint Ruff Kutz which will see a 12" release in 2025.
