@neel is a true mod­ern day tech­no crafts­man who can do sur­re­al and unusu­al things with sound in tru­ly unique ways as both a DJ and live performer. For this very special mix Neel combines DJ & live for a unique hybrid set, soundtracking the final afternoon of @parallelfestival 2023. 

Neel is known for being the mas­ter­mind behind Eniss­lab Stu­dio, a mas­ter­ing and mix­ing stu­dio which is a go-to place for many, if not most, con­tem­po­rary tech­no labels. Neel is also a long time col­lab­o­ra­tor with Dona­to Dozzy, start­ing off with them per­form­ing and record­ing as Voic­es From The Lake, evolving into them co-run­ning the legendary Spazio Disponi­bile label.

The closing set at the Varden stage is always a special time; Filled with excitement, tears, hugs, and exhaustion, it marks the end of four incredible days at Monument Festival.

This year Japanese maestro Wata Igarashi stepped up and delivered a legendary closing set. A psychedelic vortex of sound thundered across the forest as the dance floor was illuminated in radiant colors and fog, with smiling faces and dancing bodies all around. 

So find your best headphones or sit down in front of your speakers, turn it up, and time travel back to the Forgotten Valley. Guided by our friend, Wata Igarashi. Enjoy.

Monument Festival 2024 : Wata Igarashi

A true legend and pioneering figure of techno, US sound architect and Geophone label owner Mike Parker breaks in on the RYC waves with a very special set full with his idiosyncratically dark, obsessive, inch-perfectly chiselled 4x4 wares. Before Boiler Room and co. were even a thing, a pioneering platform going by the name of Studio R° used to broadcast techno sets by prominent artists from a secret location in Berlin. This iconic, vinyl-only mix is Parker’s Studio R° set from 2013, now fully remastered for your listening pleasure. Building atmospheres unlike any other, brooding and transcending in equal measure, Parker has laid the foundation to an exceptionally rich body of work. Master of the industrial vocab, peeping towards Detroit but with his defining spin on the early days genre, Parker entices us down the path of steely monumentality and laser-precise mind control. Just as typically mazy, his present mix conjures up all traits of quality Parker material: 909-powered propulsion, enslaving acid whorls, Escher-like fractals. Wild, wild ride ahead.

Sandrien is known for her versatile take on techno and igniting dancefloors all around the world from Japan, to Georgia to Berlin and of course Amsterdam, where she was a former resident of the legendary Amsterdam venues De School and its predecessor Trouw. In 2022 Sandrien set the dance floor of Monument Festival ablaze and here now for MNMT 447 she lays down another outstanding mix.

Sandrien shared some words about the mix:

“Thanks for the invite to do a mix for you, I have very fond memories of playing at the festival in 2022! It was a beautiful experience playing in the mountains with sweet, caring staff and visitors! For this podcast I wanted to make a deep techno mix, filled with tracks I’ve never played before, some unreleased tracks and a couple of favorites I currently play in my sets :) Hope you’ll enjoy it!”

Hailing from Tokyo, Japanese DJ and producer Haruka has made a name for himself through his finely curated selections and seamless mixing technique, making him a regular of acclaimed clubs around the world, including that of our beloved friends from Tbilisi, Bassiani’s. Haruka’s polymathic sound - a blend of off-kilter techno and bouncy, genre-unbound electronics, attests to the man’s widescreen vision and engaging versatility, never settling for the obvious but looking to find new paths of expression with every set. His RYC offering doesn’t differ and delves into a wealth of rhythms and tropes, pushing back the boundaries of techno as we know it, or better, redefining it entirely.

DVS1 came up as a raver in the Midwest, throwing techno parties for over 20 years and getting up to mischief, often next to huge stacks of speakers that still influence him to this day. He is now well-established as a vital DJ and resident at Berghain and Panorama Bar. 

This mix is something special and a side of DVS1 normally not heard or recorded! A true digger and passionate record collector running the eclectic Mistress Recordings and the more pure techno label HUSH. Here he crosses into house territory for a special dekmantel mix. 

Of the podcast we have here, he says, “This mix is two hours of a four hour rare “house” set recorded LIVE in Sept 2017 at an undisclosed location. I make it a point not to release many mixes and while most people know and follow me for my techno sets, this mix is for those who dig a little deeper and appreciate it all… Enjoy!" There is still a real sense of pace to the mix as it glides effortlessly though flurries of percussion into vocal numbers, cosmic curveballs and piano laced anthems. It’s a fascinating insight into a whole other side of one of techno’s foremost talents.
