Between Here and Nowhere

Before the vocals, before words gave it direction, there was already a shimmer waiting to be uncovered. A sound that carried the mountain’s essence before even being there – as if the music itself had foreseen the journey.

The instrumental version is that premonition. The unspoken heart of Shimmer – instinctive, timeless, and shaped by silence, horizons, and emotions that existed long before I realized them.

If the vocal version is the voice that lifts, this instrumental is the whisper that dreamed it first.

It has been about 53 months since the last solo Purl album was released. 'Renovatio' marked the end of an emotional process related to music-making that I felt had become too heavy for me to continue, and the title signified the rebirth I felt was necessary. I thought at the time that perhaps this would be the last Purl album.

Since then there have been 17 singles, EPs and collaborative albums released that in different ways opened my mind and heart beyond anything that came before. There has also been solo releases planned that did not happen (yet), for different reasons. 

'Himmelsandar' isn't really something new. Then again, I wonder if there ever has been or will be anything new from this stream of awareness and emotion that I call Purl. It somehow seems to me like everything essential was present from the beginning, and I'm not sure if anything has been added to it since. I dream of starting new projects; painting on a blank canvas again. But nothing here was painted on such a canvas. Everything was painted and repainted, so many times that the original idea may no longer be distinguished other than as the faintest wisp of something... ethereal.

The Turin-based producer Astronomy Domine's label OVUNQVE releases a compilation of 23 ambient, deep, dubby and hypnotic tracks. The Deepwater Compilation Vol. 3 includes tracks for example from Yuka, Shaded Explorer, Fabrizio Lapiana and Simone Gatto, and Monument is happy to preview exclusively Italian duo Primal Code's track Is Azure Down There.

The Deepwater Compilation Vol. 3 releases in digital format on 30th of April 2018.

Last night I had a dream about mars. And since I am the moon just by being a female spirit and mars is in conjunction with the moon just today I felt it was needed to release the shadow that I dragged out from my soul on hunters full moon in october. It´s been hunting me evre since trying to get a grip again but that shall not happen.

With this I ask all shadows, bad omens, dark spells, impure deeds, bad intentions and entities to leave my realms.
