Mooch @ Blossom 2024

Mooch is a Perth-based drum and bass producer and DJ whose passion for electronic music ignited in his teenage years. Inspired by iconic artists like Andy C, Noisia, and Ed Rush & Optical, he was captivated by the raw energy and complexity of DnB, which soon led him to start producing his own tracks.

Quickly carving out a unique sound, Mooch’s music gained traction within the local Perth DnB scene. He made his debut in 2024 with the release of his single "So Fine" on Virus Syndicate’s Bad Medic Records, followed shortly by "FKBY" on Rene Lavice’s Device Records. These releases garnered attention and set the stage for a series of releases across multiple labels, solidifying his place in the DnB community.

Characterized by intricate drum patterns, heavy basslines, and atmospheric melodies, Mooch’s music draws influence from a wide range of genres, including hip-hop, rock, and science fiction, creating a distinctive sound that is both emotive and dynamic.

As a DJ, Mooch is known for his electrifying sets, seamlessly blending classic DnB tracks with the latest releases. He has played at festivals, doofs, and clubs across Australia, as well as various shows in the UK and Europe, earning a reputation for high-energy performances that keep the dancefloor moving.

An aspiring DnB DJ with a profound love for the 174+ BPM

This all started with a love for the rave! I was on the dancefloor so much I knew I had to learn how to do it myself. That passion took me to YourShot 2025, where I was proud to be a finalist and throw down my debut set on the Fireball Stage.

Right now I’ve still got a lot to learn and no set direction, but that’s the fun part. I’m exploring it all: from the smooth flow of liquid, to the energy of dancefloor, the grit of neurofunk, and jump up chaos!

Inspired by legends like High Contrast, Ed Solo, Pirapus, ShockOne and A.M.C, I want every set I create to feel like a ride through the full spectrum of drum and bass.

I don’t know exactly where this journey will take me yet, but the basslines are heavy, the passion is real, and my journey has only just begun.

Music is the universal language that we all speak.
I  happened to find EDM a little later at 48 and it's changed my life in so many ways. Forever exploring new sounds that tickle my ears and make my body move. I appreciate it all, from funky beats to big drops and even some dirty dubstep but my weakness is Basshouse. I stepped behind the decks for the first time in April 2024 with support from my husband RDC,  wanting to learn how to create something that gets people moving and makes them feel something on the dancefloor, I just keep experimenting, playing and practicing.  
The past few months have brought opening at Art of Sound, winning a spot in a DJ Battle at Rated Ultra, an opening spot at Rated Ultra and being on the lineup for Friendzyfest 2025.
