While summer is in full swing, we present you a fine package of brand new remixes of Ron Carroll’s house classic “The Sermon”. 

Sharply moving, synthesized bass frequencies drill themselves through a tight knit net of massive hi-hat and percussion layers, while the classic vocals provide the jacking vibe. Tobi Kramer manages to playfully inject cutting edge techno funk into his handcrafted mix.

Italy’s Qubiko intensifies the original’s atmosphere with his up-to-date, jackpot remix. He combines his deep signature sounds, with Ron’s true Chicago house roots. A combination that will capitative and thrill house and deep-house heads alike.

The first time I went to Chicago back in 1996 I was doing a story for Muzik magazine about the producers and labels from there that were exciting me at the time (Ron & Chez, Cajmere/Cajual/Relief, Gemini/Guidance...) Chez Damier was my guide for most of my trip and one night he introduced me to The Red Dog and I ended up chatting to an up'n'coming house producer. His take on the genre was one that's always stuck with me. "The thing about house," he said, "is that it's simple, all you need to make it is an s1000 and a good bag of weed."

These days, when even @carlcraig is tweeting "Too many plugins, too little time", the beauty of a simple block-rockin' beat can get forgotten about in a never-ending stream of production complexity. Thank goodness then for Sante Sansone; not a name that everyone will know but if you follow the Traxsource chart, you will have seen his "Rising" hit the top spot recently. His version of house is very much like that young kid from Chicago; great loops and a heavy beat is all you need.

The Shapeshifters featuring Teni Tinks 'When Love Breaks Down' (Dr Packer Extended Remix)

Following a stellar vinyl release, Classic’s remix package of Folamour’s ‘Re-Interpretations #1’ has now been given a digital release, featuring three mixes of the blissful tracks from the French DJ/producer. First up is Afrobeat producer Austin Ato’s jacked up version of ‘Ivoire’ where a disco-infected groove seamlessly intertwines with a slow sax and soft drums. The unwavering groove of Folamour’s production is paid due respect with thatmanmonkz 8 Minutes Of Funk Remix of ‘Ya’ll Right’, where the Classic contributor brings the tempo up and weaves in some heavy percussion. Finally, Byron The Aquarius brings his jazz-house sound to the release, giving the exquisite ‘Look At Me Or I’ll Steal Your Eyes’ a new velvety smooth funk.
