Neste sexto ano do Afro Fashion Day, trazemos em formato digital uma rota de Bahia fora do clichê, temperada com muito dendê. Fomos a São Tomé de Paripe, Rio Vermelho, Gamboa, Candeal e ao Parque São Bartolomeu - em Plataforma -, mostrar que a passarela mais negra do Brasil continua baianíssima, preta e mais linda do que nunca.

Por conta da pandemia do novo coronavírus, o evento trabalhou com equipe reduzida e dividiu os 31 modelos em 5 grupos. Usando as criações de 37 marcas baianas, com looks editados pelo produtor de moda do evento, Fagner Bispo, cada um passou pelas lentes do fotógrafo Edgar Azevedo e do cineasta Renan Benedito.

Ter o dendê como tema foi algo que encantou quase toda a equipe. E, também, foi motivo de comemoração para Telefunksoul, que assina a trilha sonora do curta, passeando da música africana ao pagodão baiano para dar o molho dessa mistura.

Inspired by psychedelic electronic music of all kinds, with multiple decades of ass wiggling on dance floors around the world, both outdoors and in dank warehouses; Sideways People produces an eclectic blend of sexy organic beats and grooves. A pinch of dark prog, a chunk of forest, melted into some boiling swamp water. Sprinkle a dash of electro with a tablespoon of sexy house and techno and whipped gently into some trance grooves. For the 37th edition of Rusted Rhythms, we have the honor of presenting a chilled-out mix of dela Moon’s finest blends and selections. Through the venerable role as an organizer of the Moontribe Collective, and a personal history stretching back through the recent decades of electronic music, dela’s touch behind the decks is as recognizable as it is infectious, and she left none of her talent on reserve for this dive through low-end psychedelia. 

Brandishing her honed-in understanding of key, mode, and tempo, dela successfully crafts a narrative journey from beginning to end, featuring the craftsmanship of producers like Somatoast, Kursa, DRRTYWULVZ, Futexture, and a host of other like-minded artisans. Clocking in at an hour and eight minutes, it’s a full course meal with dessert included, but we’d expect nothing less from one of the vanguard purveyors of sound system music and culture. Be it through extreme variance in vibe, or zeroing in on a specific spectrum, dela Moon’s indelible ability to portray evolving sonic stories is the permanent mark of her career as a precision selector and curator, and Rusted Rhythms Vol. 37 lives up to her every benchmark.
