The Beach Boys - The 'Caribou Album' (Unreleased 1973 - 1975)

This is my most recent attempt at a follow-up to The Beach Boys' Holland album. This is an alternate-universe what-if? Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar would have stayed with the group for one more album and Mike Love would have been kicked out of the band after a fight with Blondie backstage in 1973. Carl would have been less present on the album, leaving "musical direction" of the band to brother Dennis, who would blossom into a great solo artist after this last Beach Boys LP. Brian, Carl, Mike, Al and Dennis go on as recording solo artists after their 1974 breakup.

So this mix is balance of my 2 previous mixes, "It's A New Day" and "California Feeling" featuring imo the best songs from this era, mixed to a 9-track, 35-36 min LP, much like Holland was.

1. Sweet Mountain           lead: American Spring (Would have been Carl/Brian: I know it's not a Beach Boys song, but it's so good to be left out, being one of BW's most perfect songs, and the mood evoking of the Carl & The Passions/Holland era.)

4. Holy Man                      lead: Taylor Hawkins (Would have been Carl, the Hawkins version use to same rough melody that Carl sang in 1974)

This is my alternate-universe fanmix follow-up album to the Beach Boys' Friends LP (1968), which would have come out instead of 20/20, featuring songs (and most vocals) by Brian Wilson. Enjoy! :)
