Prelude And Groove

This piece started out as a recollection of an attic belonging to a friend.
Full of old boxes and crates spanning over 100 years, I couldn't help but imagine something of the lives and stories that took place in that house.

String Quartet No.2 (Long Forgotten Rondos)

When first composed, in 1987, this major work was very influenced by the topography and changeable climate of my native Tasmania. In 2001, whilst working in the Australian Outback, the ending of this work was lengthened, to reflect the awe - inspiring vastness of my new environment.
