Moon Rise City taps into the nostalgia of the iconic 1935 jazz George Gershwin classic while transforming it into their own groovy indie-pop rendition. Infused with Indys's guitar prowess, Lauren's soulful vocals, and their suave arrangement of groovy basslines, lush synths, and percussion. "At first, we kept covers separate from originals, trying to be 'serious' indie artists," Tracy explains. "But now, we've realized our eclectic influences set us apart—so we're embracing it and having fun with our music. Just like we do at our live shows in Saigon". This track marks a new season for Moon Rise City. Reimagining classic jazz and soul tunes alongside modern originals influenced by artists like Benny Sings, The Villagers, and Holy Hive. This one took WAY longer than expected, but as usual, I really enjoyed making this one. People really seemed to like it when it was work in progress so I has to finish it. I took a Melbourne vocal sample and turned it into this. And the name? Well, a huge chunk of my projects are ideas that I never finish and end up becoming scrapped, almost as if I love having scrapped projects. Does that make me a Scrap Freak? I'm not sure.
