His background in digital reggae, as a former half of the Riddim Tuffa duo has clearly left its mark on the foundation of his current production. Delving in contemporary sounds from the deeper side of dubstep, infused with strong roots and dub influences, while keeping a steadfast focus on the current production standards. The EP is a testament to EchoBoy's skill as a producer, demonstrating his ability to weave together diverse elements into a cohesive result that is both innovative and deeply satisfying. The three tracks on "Roots of Dub EP" showcase his unique approach to his influences.

"Roots of Dub" is the first track on the EP, and it is a slow-burning masterpiece with a deep, rumbling bassline that gradually builds in intensity with each passing moment. The track draws inspiration from the rich tradition of dub music, with haunting melodies and subtle effects that create a hypnotic soundscape."We Lock Down The Block" is the second track on the EP. A heavy-but-soothing tune with a driving rhythm and powerful, deep and melodic bassline that will get any sound system shaking. The track builds up a meditative scape before the bassline drops in, hitting hard and leading the attention. Finally, "Chords Trip" takes a more minimalist approach, featuring ethereal melodies and sparse percussion that combine to create an immersive listening experience. The use of atmospheric sounds and effects creates a dreamy vibe, taking the listener on a journey through EchoBoy's unique soundscape.

The combination of EchoBoy's refined sound and Soul Ex Machina's commitment to delivering the best in cutting-edge electronic music promises to make this a standout release. The EP is set to drop on 2nd of June 2023.

It was the album King Tubby meets Rockers Uptown that altered my world. The deep bass lines and the syncopated drum groove with the “flying cymbal” aka “flyers” style created by drummer Santa Davis captivated and hooked me for life. Behind the music, I was hearing was King Tubby, one of the pioneers of dub who helped propel it into the musical consciousness of people worldwide so today I pay tribute to the dub master and Santa Davis’ “flying cymbal” style.

The bridge between rocksteady and roots began in the late 60s into the new decade of the 70s and with it, the sounds, tempo, and styles evolved into the next phase which would become roots reggae. Still, in between, there was a short period of time where the music and lyrics straddled the past and the future. Lee' Scratch" Perry was at the forefront of this change and played an essential role in developing new sounds, ways to utilize sound fx, and production styles.

This edition features Osaka producers Hiroshi and Roots Masashi in collaboration with Spanish producer Ojah and well-respected UK singer Rudey Lee. The Osaka Steppas’ raw and unrelenting sound developed in the subterranean clubs of Osaka, a port city famous for its counterculture night life. Inspired not only by the sounds of Jamaica, but also drawing inspiration from UK and European soundsystem culture with enough bassweight to test even the toughest of soundsystems. Presented in a beautifully designed full colour sleeve inspired by the works of the legendary ukiyo-e woodblock artist, Hokusai. This release is not to be missed.

Side A features an earth rocker riddim from Ojah & Hiroshi, with conscious lyrics sung by the legendary Rudey Lee.

Side B features a much sought after dubplate from Osaka producer Roots Masashi, a deep, dark & mystical steppa.

Subtle vinyl crackles gently introducing meditative beats, ‘Run Dub’ sets the pace. Keen listeners find themselves embedded in lively echoes and reverbs, left to bask in smooth, sonic contemplation. Engineered to soothe the soul, timeless foundation sound. Intensified groove meets low-frequency pressure in ‘Amir Dub’ among haunting melodica fragments. ‘(Yes!) The selecta Mercy of the Bhale Bacce Crew reveals his solo project on the Culture Dub Records label. “Sound System To The Top” is a ten-tracks album accompanied by Baltimores' singers: G-Rhyme General, Sista Bethsabée, Daman, Jacko and Wisemani and musicians: Elijah, Lo, Papa Crazy, Smerz, Alex RLB, Jeremy Turpin and Kingfly. It is a Digital Dub opus mastered by K-Sann, for free download!

Mercy has been part of the famous Bhale Bacce Crew for more than 20 years as a selecta. Thanks to this experience with the Sound System that he particularly likes, Mercy started to compose and produce many Dubplates, Dubs and riddims for the singers of the crew and other artists like the Boucan Sound System or Kolibri!

Mercy has been spreading Reggae Dub culture through his WebaRecords netlabel since 2012. He produced releases such as “From Our Studios Vol.1 & 2”, “A Song And Its Dub Version (s)”, Dub Eps and also a one riddim EP from DJ Monkey Green, former member of the Bhale Bacce Crew.

In 2020, Mercy created his new project: "Sound System To The Top". On some tracks, the producer is accompanied by singers such as Baltimores (Maha Mila Prod), G-Rhyme General (Brigante Records), Daman, Sista Bethsabée, and Wisemani. Mercy has also recorded with musicians, accomplices of the Bhale Bacce: Elijah (sax), Lo (flute) and Papa Crazy (machines), or other instrumentalists like Smerz (sax) & Alex RLB (trumpet), Jeremy Turpin (sax) and Kingfly (melodica) for ten tracks mixed and mastered by K-sann.
