As Sydney returns to the dance, we couldn't think of many more DJs as suited to host #20 right now. Tim Boyd comes in very hot for this instalment with 2 hours of jacking house and soul fillers originally intended to grace the dancers at the Community Chest spring soirée. A facelift on the thumbnail starting with a face we are happy to lift onto the thumbnail.. if your ears haven’t had the pleasure of meeting this selector in a Sydney club yet, we are excited for your listen.

"I haven't had my turntables since moving to Canberra in June and haven't been able to travel back into NSW to pick them up until the border opened in the last couple weeks. When I finally got them I decided to set them up and straight away in one take do a mix of all the records I've wanted to play for the past 5 months. They're all from the bag I packed for Sydney's very special Community Chest party which got cancelled because of lockdown but I'm told is coming up soon!! Thanks for having me Jackson! "

Happy to present the next blend for Moonshoe from one of the driving forces in the Eora/Syd dance scene, DJ Scorpion. Commonly known for her involvement in event crew Nectar, Community Chest and also as co-head of the Artist/Label/Radio show ‘Body Promise’ with Hed Ardennes. 

  On this one, Scorps comes through with dub-club-wise behaviour paired with cheeky broken steps and sprinkled chops of R&B vox throughout. Its a ‘heads-down business at the front, party at the back’ type of thing. We hope you enjoy

Very happy to present #22 of the mix series, the double-deuced digit by our good friend Sandpit Alias. Sandpit is infamously known in our city for appearing from the shadows behind the smoke machine to play the closing set at the house party. These sets are known to have twisted minds, rejuvenated souls and filled proverbial bowls. Although the phantom of the house party experience doesn’t come by as often anymore, you are still able to catch him doing his thing, now in Melbourne, via his technological day party - ‘Techworld”. For his Moonshoe edition, Sandpit Alias keeps it deep, trippy and dusty, at a sweet spot energy level to translate a taste of these early mornings sets to your home listening devices. Please enjoy

Very proud to have @whysufar on the 27th Selects. Part of the inimitable Translate crew of whom created some literal pillars of Eora/Sydney scene in the form of a sound system and who constantly impress with their events - Sufar has kindly shared this delicate, deep and bubbling warm up set for Donato Dozzy at the Strange Signals after party at a warehouse earlier this year. A beautiful trip of a mix that demonstrates Sufars strong knowledge of not only how the speakers work but what should be coming out of them..

"In March, by a small stream in a valley on Dharawal Country near Gerringong, the first Pepperprint festival was held. Over an afternoon, evening, and then morning, about 300 people came together for a special musical experience. The lineup was programmed with time-of-day and a considered arc in mind: live hip-hop, rolling tech house, an arps-and-acid live PA reminiscent of early days orbital, and an all-wax electro set to polish it off.

We were lucky enough to be asked to wake up first on the Sunday morning, power up the generator, and play the bacon-and-egg-roll set from 8am to 2pm, to get the weary revellers out of bed to cement the dancefloor friendships of the previous night. We woke up, left our comfy car (tim) and tent (gus), and had a Rainbow Boss and a dip in the river. As the sun slowly started to creep into the valley and lift the mist and the dew, we had the joy of powering up the generator and Funktion Ones and getting the morning started.

Our SD card only lasted for two of the five hours that we played for, so here’s what we got - from minute 45-or-so onwards; just before we broke our “no drums for the first hour” rule.

Cheers to Tuc, Body Corp, Cousin, Command D, Au4r33y, and many, many more for blowing our minds and hearts on the Saturday night. Cheers to Ghi, Sherry, Rhys, Juj, G-Lyon, and those who danced it out to Soul Capsule with us. Thanks to Oska for being the perfect focus group to run our next few tunes by, and sorry we never played any Shackleton. 

Huge thank you to Kev, to Jake, the property owners, and sincere apologies to the neighbours. Thanks and love to the whole Pepperprint crew. We can’t wait to come back."

I first met Pjenne in the Bookar Crater at the inaugural Inner Varnika festival in 2017. Only moments after our introduction we were hugging and swaying together, to an unforgettable set by my brother Ben. Little did I know she had already played at the festival before I’de arrived and would soon become one of my favourite disk jockeys. 

Pjenne’s sets all manage to have a unique and alluring atmosphere, a vibe that permeates itself no matter the style or genre she’s exploring. Each set brings a sonic embrace, a warmth similar to that which I felt when we first met. 

This mix is no different, a certified classic of dubbed jams mined from the depths of ’89 to ’03. Please Enjoy!

The people say 30 is big, tho its feeling just right to be carried by this special live recording of Angus Mills’ set from Soma Festival 2026 - A weekend in the bush that will forever sit close to the Moonshoe heart.

The unruly clash another beloved VIC bush gathering, Hopkins Creek, meant I couldn’t make it to this year’s edition of Soma.. But am deeply grateful to be transported into the hills of Wiradjuri Country through this recording. 

Lifted, bouncy rhythms weave in and out of deeper, dreamy introspections - laced with weight that you can almost hear echoing off the hills around the Soma shades. Hopefully those who weren’t there can also feel a little of the magic through this… and that those who were, can be taken straight back . More Angus on Moonshoe ~ out very soon !

Next up, a special transmission from the inscrutable musical alien RAMZi! Fostering her goal of inter-species harmony with a stopover down under, this is an hour-long recording of her live set from Inner Varnika. Dense and psychedelic, it’s a great example of how she translates the hazy atmospheres, pan-global rhythmic propulsion and alien voices of her solo records into a captivating live performance. It may be hard to recreate the delirious, sweat-dripping somnambulism of IV but her music loses none of its voodoo energy no matter what setting you’re in.
