Moony is a DJ/producer from the South Coast of England. He started mixing at 11, producing at 16 and by the age of 20 he was releasing tracks and DJing in clubs. Moony established his name within the Grime scene, but his roots in UK Garage and his taste for bass driven up beat House and Dub cannot go un-noticed both his production and DJ sets.

ZES manoeuvres between atmospheric futuristic beats, forward thinking sounds and innovative compositions built to last. Taz makes his debut on Slime after an extended production hiatus. The veteran producer should need no introduction, having forged a remarkable back catalogue of killer tracks for labels such as Numbers, Rwina, Tumble Audio and many more. It looks like the time off has done him good too, as he’s back with four slabs of pure firepower in the guise of the ‘Goldman Wax’ EP. 

‘Wow’ sets the standard from the opening few bars, rolling beats strapped to shock-out bass stabs and twisted R&B samples. A proto-Jungle breakdown anticipates the coming storm of warping basslines and energetic percussion that cuts this out from the pack as a heavyweight piece of dancefloor ordinance. ‘You Know’ takes a different path, sugar sweet female vocals clipped over a 2-step beat tailored to perfection, right before the thunderous bassline steps in to decimate sound systems everywhere. ‘Raindrops’ accelerates the tempo with a bubbling 4X4 beat underpinning bouncing basslines and glittering melodies for something more melancholy. Closing track ‘Don’t You Say’ might as well have ‘garage anthem’ embossed on it, with its deliciously cheeky vocal sample drenched over a seductive groove and snaking bassline that will be guaranteed to have ravers losing their minds on the dancefloor.

Thomas Mason AKA Moony is an ambitious young producer and DJ from the south coast, who already has some fantastic releases under his belt. Having started to DJ at 11, producing soon became a fascination. By the age of 16 he was regularly creating his own beats; by 20, he was releasing records and Djing across the UK.

Moony’s sound is for dance floors and he has quickly established a reputation within the UK bass scene for his great production skills. With his stylish and soulful blend of bass driven music this young man stand out from the crowd, both a DJ and a producer his roots are deep in UK Garage but his diverse taste for music Moony draws inspiration from far and wide and incorporates influences from House, Grime, Bassline, UK Funky and Dubstep.

In the last few years Moony has gone from strength to strength releasing a dizzying array of diverse, dance music that joins the gaps between Garage, House & Grime. Aside from the production side of things Moony has been a strong DJ presence throughout the UK in 2012 with countless live bookings in and around the capital, he also took his sound to the far corners of the British Isles as part of the Nasty FM Summer tour (including the epic set from the Bongo Club Edinburgh, which is available for download on his sound cloud page.) Not to mention various well received radio appearance on Rinse FM & BBC 1Xtra.

2013 is shaping up to be a promising year for Moony with a set confirmed at Outlook Festival in Croatia, a residency at Brighton’s number one Grime/Garage event ENK/Recreation, not forgetting his weekly radio show on Nasty FM. He has a solo album in the pipeline on top of EP’s and various high profile remixes for artists such as MIK, Trilla, Shystie, Bounty Killa and C4. His tracks are receiving regular support from DJs such as EZ, DJ Q, Mak 10, Spyro, JJ, DOK, Spooky, Marcus Nasty, Score5, Swindle, Elijah & Skilliam, B Traits, Dusk & Blackdown and many more.
