We believe that « everything is a remix »

Remixes are a major part of the electronic music history. The club culture took off on remixes, some of the greatest dance hits where made from remixing original tracks.
Our primary purpose is to highlight this exercise by offering the opportunity to artists to either work on a remix of their choice or offer a track to be remixed by an artist they admire. It is overseen and curated by independent music lovers and supported by The Absolut Company, a brand that is permanently involved in the field of contemporary arts and creation with a tradition of supporting artists such as Keith Haring and Andy Warhol. The Absolut Remix project is dedicated to the art of combining or editing existing materials, to produce something new.

As a start, every last Friday of the month, we will unveil a new remix, from a newcomer or a legend, from disco to techno or IDM and house music. And more to come...

Life's Track - Stone (Ricardo Tobar Absolut Remix)

As the world waits with baited breath for a follow-up to ƒin – a record that looks more and more like a modern classic by the day – we get a clutch of remixes trailing Talabot’s DJ-Kicks release instead; a holdover from the holdover, if you will. Thankfully “Without You” was a mighty fine standalone when teased out in late 2013, demonstrating Talabot’s gradual crossfade from nu disco into more shiver-inducing and (whisper it) trance-like territory, and the track is gifted a fresh lease of life on this !K7 12”.

Minimal maestro Thomas Melchior, riding high off his superb recent Perlon EP, spins the original out for nearly 10 minutes, but it’s Oskar Offermann who does the real business here. Abetted by sonar blips and rolling drums that form a techy counterpoint to the emotional nakedness of the original, Offerman sinks the original’s glistening guitar and softtone pads, allowing mere fragments to bubble to the surface now and again. A remix of surprising heft and replayability.

Oh, what a year Glenn Astro had last year. Appearances on DJ Kicks (Brandt Brauer Frick) and Brownswood, umpteen remixes, and a string of beautifully-crafted EPs perforated 2014. This year is set to eclipse that. Buddying up with Max Graef, his new imprint Money $ex Records took flight in January and sold out pronto. Good luck finding a version on Discogs.  A debut longplayer on Tartelet Records - quickly becoming an office favourite - is on its way this spring too.

In between these comes the Hologram EP, two years after his first release on WotNot. "User’s Guide To" is the ultimate tutorial in dusty house, with rolling layers of percussion over smooth synth chords. All-in-all a great record to kick off a year that will see new records from K15, Kab Driver, Alphabets Heaven, and some new faces on WotNot.
