I’ve been on 1020 for over 2 years, starting as a volunteer studio hand just before covid. I can safely say I wouldn’t have the confidence and passion I do now without this station, it gave me somewhere I could meet people as nerdy as me, and it gave me my first real opportunities as a dj. Don’t want to get too sentimental, but yeah without 1020 fuck knows where I’d be now.

The first Mode show of the year covers a healthy backlog of breakbeat stuff stockpiled towards the backend of 2022 alongside some forthcoming material from myself & others due in 2023.
I’m joined by the one & only Fliss Mayo providing a sick guestie in the second half of the show. After catching her on NYE in Bristol, I clocked that she’s 1) possibly the nicest person I’ve met & 2) is an absolute champion selector, so you already know this mix is going to go. She’s also secured her Boiler Room debut later this month as part of Dual Monitor (@dualmonitor), so that really says all you need to know.

Voices In My Head

This is a mashup of my 2023 summer festival slots. Tracks taken from my sets at Twisted Frequency, Tora Bombora and Twominds festival. 

A mix of tribal, psy, jazz and funk influenced 4x4 grooves all packaged into a journey spanning from 100-130bpm. Expect oriental guitars, , bongo riffs, bossa nova grooves, spacey acid lines and pumping bass.

Summer mix

March’s Mode show brings with it the usual spread of Breaks, Bass, Electro & 160 bits - covering recent favourites, forthcomings & dubs across that spectrum.
To mark a recent release of mine over on new label Sensational, the label head CGS joins me with a fresh guestie across the same genres (with some UKG on top) for the second hour of the show.

Yes then.
This show right here rounds off my residency with Mode so I'm glad it turned out to be a sick one. Expect 2 hours of Leftfield Bass, Tech, Breaks and more - the first from myself and the last being covered by Glasgow's Hang Tough, a not-for-proft label championing the forefront of the underground club sound.

Mode's given me a great platform to move into the radio space over the past year or so & really get into the scene, for that I'm more than thankful.
After my time on the station I think I'm ready to move on & press forward as the sounds I'm listening to, mixing and producing are progressing  - I'm looking to focus on that development before I take up another platform to showcase what I've got going on.
