This started as a public domain song recorded around 1930 by Gene Autry.  It appears that whoever wrote it borrowed most of the melody from a Jimmy Rodgers' In The Jail House Now.  We made significant changes to the lyric, changed the melody around a bit and arranged it as a western swing tune.
