On 15th Oct 2023, I played a set at the Workinonit MF DOOM tribute at The Hip Hop Chip Shop, Manchester alongside the almighty OMA, who absolutely smashed along with UK MCs, Batfunk & Pique Roscoe. A huge thanks to all the Workinonit crew, Ozzie & the team at The Hip Hop Chip Shop for such an amazing event & for the honour of being asked to perform a DOOM set too!

It’s actually the first time I’ve played out using my own gear which made things much easier too, on trusty Technics 1210s, Pioneer DJMS-7, Serato & Phase, which is always bulletproof & makes things so much easier!  I forgot to record the set on the day, so decided to put out the unabridged version I planned.  On the day, I played about half of this after OMA. The mix is jam packed with all things DOOM from samples, remixes, covers, production & even an unreleased joint with the ever-elusive Mr Fantastic!

This is an archive of the Clean Up Hour. Tonight takes us back to the summer of 2004, where Jadakiss was everywhere promoting Kiss of Death (including G-Phoria, rather than the Spike Video Game Awards, as I misremembered!), the American government continued to astound by virtue of its un-reality, and I was just enjoying life as a carefree ten year old who wanted to take in all the hip hop and video games that he could. The Clean Up Hour, Mix 287 (October 11, 2024): an Ode to 2004, Part 2 of 3

I've decided that, like the other Workinonit mixes, I'd put out an extended version of the live set that I dropped at the MF DOOM tribute at Manchester's Workinonit in October 2024. The mix is jam packed with all things DOOM from samples, remixes, covers, production & more. I wanted to get this out right after the set but I’ve had a crazy few weeks here and have only just got time to record it!!

Along with stright up DOOM tracks, this mix also features appearances from Your Old Droog, Jay Electronica, Ghostface Killah, Kurious, Mach-Hommy, Bishop Nehru, Kool Keith, Tuxedo, Aesop Rock, Homeboy Sandman, Prince Po, C-Rayz Walz, Vast Aire, Czarface, Moka Only, Count Bass D, Tommy Gunn, Wale Oyejide, KRS-One, Atmosphere and many more.

As well as those featurwed above, this mix dips into tracks from Madlib, Oh No, Hell Razah, Flying Lotus, Abstract Orchestra, Dabrye, Jneiro Jarel, Danger Mouse, Lice, Kuartz, Criseal, Chris Craft, Tom Caruana, 3rd Bass, Cannibal Ox, BADBADNOTGOOD, Czarface, Masta Ace, Wilma Archer, DJ Matman, Non Phixion to name a few.

Sample wise...... nah, I'm not gonna snitch but expect a global sampe base, from obscure to household names.  This digs deep!!!

As with Episode One, this mix is jam packed with all things DOOM from samples, remixes, covers, production from well know to obscure. No matter if you’re a KMD, ground zero fan or have recently discovered him, I guarantee there’s something for everyone!!!

Seemed like a good moment to salute the city of LA, a city I never thought I'd end up residing in as a kid but where I now live and don't plan on leaving. A huge city, where horrible fires and climate change have destroyed the homes of thousands of people including some of those featured on this mix. San Diego’s underground hip hop visionary SCVTTERBRVIN is back with a hard-hitting new single, “Dr. Killemoff”, produced by Dresden, Germany beatsmith Fiqqouw.
