As artists, Denote & Lay are inspired by hip-hop/rap artists such as Ice Cube, Scarface, 2Pac, Jay-Z, Killer Mike, E-40 & B-Legit, 8 Ball & MJG, UGK and more. 

And as music producers, Denote & Lay are inspired by mega producers such as Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Timbaland, Tone Capone and others! Plus, they have produced several music projects and theme songs for independent films.

Some of Denote & Lay's accomplishments include: 

- Writing and performing the hit single, “A New Breed Sound,”which was produced by multi-platinum producer Tone Capone (“Smile” - Scarface/2Pac, “Mary” - Scarface, I Got 5 On It” - Luniz, “It’s Going Down - Celly Cel). And Mike Marshall (“Rumors” - Times Social Club, “I Got 5 On It” - Luniz) also sung the chorus on this song as well.

- Receiving rave reviews in the Murder Dog magazine (West Coast) for two music projects: “Relentless” album and “Still Relentless: The Rebuttal” album

- Writing and producing the theme song, “The Last Straw,” for the independent movie titled “The Last Straw.”
