a combination of electromagnetic recordings to generate the feedback for the assignment and some old field recordings of birds squabbling at local sheds, with occasional environmental noises and artifacts.

Into Noise [disquiet0590]

This is just a simple ambient solo using the Buchla Music Easel and Christopher H.M Jacques "Sleepwalker" patch for the Zoia. Hopefully it will be of some use to someone for the trio project.

This track is about a minute of C# major droning, then some F# major, then back to C# major. Created using a modular setup using Moog Matriarch, Cloud Terrarium, and Virt Iter Lego for a total of 7 droning oscillators sent through the Matriarch ladder filter and stereo delay. Hope someone finds this to be a useful starting point!

The Assignment: Record the first third of a trio.

I started with a track I'm working on since months and which does not work for me. I threw away all but what was originally some kind of Rhodes basis. I rearranged it until I liked it more than the original fully instrumented version. It's now Dmin with only two 4-bar-progressions to Gm and back. It's 90bpm, 6/4. I see plenty of space for Drums, Leads, Vocals, Noises - have fun, if you like ;-)

A sequenced modular patch using the 2HP Pluck as the only voice and passed through a couple of guitar pedals (Digital Delay, then Digital Reverb).

There are two KORG SQ-1s providing the sequence. One of seven steps and the other of five. The two CVs are XORed and passed to the V/Oct of the Pluck. Meanwhile, the gate from one SQ-1 is combined with the output of a 2HP Euclid, then passed through a Mystic Circuits ANA to create stepped triggers that trigger the Pluck. The resulting pluck is then passed through a VCA, which is modulated by an ADSR being triggered by the 180 bpm clock. During the recording, I vary the release on the ADSR to change the intensity of the 'bongos'.

Disquiet Junto Project 0591: The Loneliest Number
The Assignment: Record the first third of a trio.

Experimenting a bit more with feedback after last week’s DisquietJunto.
From a longer recording of these experiments I stitched together different sections, choosing mainly ones that were relatively sparse, in order to leave room for more layers.

Practical info: Although the use of envelopes and filters makes the sounds mostly percussive, I did use specific notes/chords to create them, and so it may be useful to know these:
Am7 (a-c-e-g); B/A (a-d#-f#-b); G+/A (a-b-d#-g). Notes are from the A dorian #4 scale (mode of E harm minor).
The tempo is 78.5 bpm.
