20 years marks the last output of A man called Adam, and this limited edition Vinyl sampler ‘Farmarama’ accomplishes a lot, skimming through a ludicrous amount of different styles, from Acid Jazz, smooth Balearic house, slow jams and everything in between.

Sally & Steve have also dusted off and polished their long held cult label ‘Other Records’ for the release. We’re totally unsure how after such a long hiatus it’s possible to get it quite so bang on, and fit seamlessly back with the musical landscape, and push things forward. This is probably one to be only pondered on by us mere mortals, as re-entries as smooth as this normally only can be architected by NASA. 

We’re premiering a Prins Thomas remix (Norwegian Golden Boy and all round superb producer) of ‘Paul Valery at the Disco’, who has given a more chilled world-y sound to an already very smooth and chilled disco cut. Think laidback percussion, a sauntering arrangement and a more lackadaisical approach to rhythm.

“Symptoms of Love, a project by Detroit duo Ryan Spencer (Freakish Pleasures) and Ben Christensen (Sector 7G), present “Foam EP” scheduled to drop in January 2020 on Sydney label Planet Trip Records. This is the team’s second release, a follow-up to their 2019 “Eye Contact” (SOBO, Montreal). “Foam EP” reflects a contrast of the high-energy late nights and laid-back afternoons in the sprawling echo-chamber of Detroit. 

Recorded over the course of two years, the duo stack live instrumentation onto the vast synth and drum machine collection in Christensen’s home studio. The tracks are finished with explorations into sample-based wormholes that deliver a truly diverse EP. The sounds cruise through balearic and streetsoul inspired smoothness, machine funk dance floor jams, and bleepy percussive workouts.

This five tracker holds a mood and a groove for every hour of the dance; be it at peak time, sun up or sun down. Receiving early support from Jex Opolis, Millios Kaiser, CC:DISCO!, Lauren Hansom, DJ D.DEE, Ben Fester, Ruf Dug, Bayete & more…It’s a no brainer tip to start 2020 right!

"Children of Imagination" - Haunting Synth Psych Private Press 7" - USA, 1970's - SOLD

Periodica Records dives into the heart of the Napoli underground with a scorching two track single from Danger Boys called ‘Danger Zone’, which sees Milord and Whodamanny paying tribute to the their cult party of the same name, which was hosted at the Boudoir Club. In the title track, perilous premonitions of tribal disco intertwine with shadowy strains of post-punk, as propulsive beats pound beneath heady fuzz licks, ringing harmonics, and sheets of solar distortion. Basslines cut the difference between frenetic funk and cosmic rock, galactic winds carry sparkles of deep space detritus, and above it all, a high priest chants in ecstasy, with his mystical musings, echoing affirmations, and messages of defiance pulling the body deeper into the dance. Then in “Haunted Zone,” the Danger Boys slow it down and stretch everything out, while giving further space to computronic sequences, laser-generated birdsong, and weirdo whooshes of interstellar noise. Low-slung drums smack through cavernous reverb, cymbals tick nervously, and the bass reduces to a minimalistic dub throb as guitars converse with alien electronics, sometimes slashing the air with red hot riffs and acid rock leads, other times reducing to a psychedelic slop of scrapes and slides. And here, the vocals are even more dynamic, moving between druidic disco incantations and zany flourishes of outsider pop.

PRD1019 • Danger Boys - "Danger Zone"

In anticipation of Kit Sebastian's forthcoming second album in 2021, the duo have delved into their archives to present a special digital single release. Think of this as not necessarily a taster of what's to come, but more as a starter that refreshes the appetite for the next course.

'Rain (باران)' was the second track recorded in their analogue studio, and because of this, it has a slightly more primitive rudimentary sound. It was written more or less to test the studio and to learn what sounded good and didn't. It was a hot French hazy July day which you can hear translated into the sound of the track. The version on this EP has been re-sung to include Merve’s vocals.

'Questions' was written and recorded for the duo's short film 'C'est Quoi Le Mantra Moderne'. It was intended for a scene that they would later abandon: a summer night, sitting in an old-fashioned café in Le Grand-Pressigny, where they ask each other one question after another without any clear answers. Given the limited amount of film they had, this idea felt risky which meant they couldn't release the track with the film. Yet, it can still be enjoyed on its own and hopefully, still, enrich the experience of their visual essay and bring a new layer to it.

We hope you enjoy this further excursion into the world of Kit Sebastian, and big thanks to the duo for rescuing 'Questions' from the cutting room floor for us all to savour.
