Very close to the original; nicely done. :)

Actually, the snare in the original version  is a sample which is from the Boss DR 600 (you can also find it in another drum machine, but I can't remember which one, I have a huge library of samples and I stumble on this a long time ago) ... and yes, seems to be layered with white noise, and maybe other treatments. Great recreation of the kick, though !

Looking back to Plexi Glass debut EP “Echoes From Space”, released in 2023 on Ulla Records, we thought those tracks all had a potential to be remixed. So we asked 5 talented producers that we adore to revisit them, and share with us their very own artistic vision ! 

First we have Gewaltem, who took some subtle deviation to create his own darker, cold wave-ish version of “Magma Punch”. Then Anastasia Zems propose us to discover a more proggy side of “Hypnotic Marble”, laying some vocals of her own in the mix. Desire is next, and she delivers an explosive and uplifting club-ready remix of “Dust On The Road”. We also wanted to give a twist of our own to the release, so Austher took “Core Of The Meteor” to a more italo-trance field. Finally, we have Blutch closing the dance with a dreamy, melancholic and really personal reinterpretation of “Sky Sytem”, wandering somewhere between progressive trance and acid.

Washed Out - New Theory (RAC Mix)

Took the challenge of reverse engineering this sound after researching its history. Originally produced by Iggy Pop in "Clubnighting" off his "Idiot" album, Trent Reznor then sampled and did some spatial work to the kick. He then used a snare from a TR-70 or what have you. The drum machine used by Iggy is still unknown all over the web, with some speculation it was a Roland drum machine. Upon trying many roland units to find the original kick and Trent's snare... I realized they all emulate what a TR-909 can already do... so first, kick drum with a type of tape delay of the kick with a fast delay setting, minimal feedback. Sampled from a TR-909. Next, compressed and eq to add thud punch and to cut all of the top end. Next, Trent used a very quick pre-delay send for added stereo space excitement on the kick. The emphasis for the send is to highlight darker frequencies, giving slightly more weight. You can use eq or a fliter to find a good spot.  Finally, a snare from a TR-909, compressed first, then distorted via ssl channel strip or soundtoy's decapitator plugin. Lastly, the snare gets sampled, filtered and gated... with the last secret ingredient being... you guessed it... a ring-modulator. And... SERVE.
