Istanbul’a is a song written for the ancient city Istanbul that evokes timeless questions: Can one ever leave behind one’s home? Can one ever truly arrive at a home that was once abandoned yet never quite forgotten? 

The original version of this haunting track was first released in 2017 in the aftermath of political events that filled the city with grave uncertainty, much like the current moment in which we find ourselves. Even more so than at the time of its original release, today Istanbul’a captures a widespread sentiment of liminality and uprootedness that echoes all around and gains new meaning in our world as we ask: Can we go back to a past that is long gone? Will things ever be the same again?

Dunkelbunt’s version features his signature of transglobal electronic-instrumental sound that is full of energy, swing and a sense of eclecticism that is as layered as the ancient city Istanbul itself.

The 14.12. has been a portal day with very strong energies. I had a San Pedro hike that day, together with beautiful und shiny people. In the evening I happened to take part in a strong breathwork, also with amazing souls and lovely beings. 
I want to thank all this wonderful people for their being and their love, light, trust and energy. Although I was like super tired that evening, I wanted to transform the energy of the day and the energies created by these actions together with these bright shiny lights into this weeks set, what I also did.

Bursting onto the scene in 2012 at Rainbow Serpent, MAF have grown effervescently, making the 2am Saturday night slot on the Playground Stage their own. Described by Eamon Armstrong of fest300.com as having the ‘raucous energy of house party at the end of the universe’ they have flamboyantly mutated, harnessing a myriad of individual styles and throwing them into a celestial mixing pot of progressive good vibes. Based in Melbourne, Mortisville has been one of the driving forces behind the growth of Electro Swing and Vintage Remix in Australia. Having promoted nights in Melbourne for the last 5 years, he now co-runs the hugely successful Electro Swing Club Australia, which regularly sells out to over 1000 people and has hosted artists such as Electric Swing Circus, Slamboree, Grant Lazlo, Incontrol, Dr Cat Dutty Moonshine and The Chicken Brothers

As a DJ, Mortisville has rocked stages at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Bestival and Boomtown in the UK, as well Goulash Disco in Croatia and a host of festivals in Australia. These include, Rainbow Serpent, WOMADELAIDE, Maitreya, Strawberry Fields, Subsonic and Pleasure Garden to name a but a few. He also has a number of successful releases under his belt, having worked with Grant Lazlo, Incontrol, Ragtime Records, Green Queen Music, Gentlemen Callers and many more.
