A one man a capella cover of System of a Down's Radio Video

This is an SATB multitrack with 30 voices, plus the following instruments: handbells, chimes, piano, cymbals and bass drum.  All of these instruments are virtual, but the voice is mine and very real, and all layers are unique recordings.  No doubling, chorus effect, or auto-tuning of any kind.

"Cloudburst" is an ode to a rainstorm, with lyrics inspired by Octavio Paz's poem, "El Cantaro Roto" ("The Broken Water Jug").  All vocals, instrumentals, and sound effects performed and recorded by me.

You are hearing between 24-30 simultaneous voices in this recording, plus additional tracks for effects and instruments.  Tracks recorded on a AKG Perception 120, and mixed in MOTU Digital Performer 7 on a Mac.  The virtual percussion and piano came from Native Instruments' Kontakt, but the handbells were recorded from the line-out of my Yamaha S-80 piano.

Nearly 200 hours of work went into this project.

This is a work in progress multitrack of "Midnight Clear" by Matthew D. Nielsen with 36 voices.  I recorded this at home, layer by layer, with ZERO auto-tuning.  You are hearing the raw voices with only reverb and mild compression in the output stage.

This an early 80s performance by the University of Florida Vocal Jazz Troupe of "On a Clear Day," with a scat improv solo by myself. I sang with the group for two years while ins school at UF.

Home studio, recording vocals, band, as well as doing photography and cinemaogrphy, all for fun, but with the best equipment (my) money can afford. 

I see soundcloud as an opportunity to meet people who might like to colaborate on something, no strings attached - from recording your own materials, to jamming, creating videos with music, or redoing one of my solo a capella arangments with an actul choir. 

I like to work with people who enjoy ther work, and don't mind improvising.
