For the tenth anniversary of the French label https://soundcloud.com/popcornrecords , it was impossible not to make a somewhat special record. That’s why they chose the compilation format, because they wanted a lot of artists on this important and symbolic project, regulars of the label of course, but also newcomers. As we are getting ready for SXSW we wanted to get you in the spirit. Joe Kay went solo again to keep things simple and focused. He kicked it off with the new Carmack/Esta collab, played some new discoveries/unreleased gems, and then switched up the whole format by letting the live listener selects the music by sending us our requests via our social media networks. What a beautiful thing! For over 2 hours, you had the chance to selects the music, Joe was just the provider! What a great way to collaborate right? Since we will be at SXSW from (March 11-16) there won't be a live Soulection Radio show next week, however, we do have a special guest mix to make up for it. Stay tuned.

" Dedicated to & inspired by the people in my life. Each track is named after someone who I feel has made a huge impact on my life & the way I see the world. I got sounds that reminded me of them (favorite songs,movie scenes,etc.) and made tracks from those samples after I would spend time with them..talk to them..or even just think of them. I tried to put whatever emotion I had from those moments into song form. During the time I was making this project I had a lot of things going on with my life..working on these songs helped me get my mind off everything. It was great because I didn't have to leave my own room to go to another place,all I had to do was close my eyes and listen. It was a fun idea that turned into a whole project that helped me more than I thought it was. I'm happy to share it with you. Over the past 8 years or so we have had, along with Theo Parrish, the honour of playing the monthly residencies at a small basement club in Shoreditch, London with an impeccable sound system. After 20 years of operation, it was time to move on and close the doors on a place that has a lot to answer for in shaping modern club culture. To say this space along with the owner Ade’s singular vision was fundamental in our personal musical formation would be a complete understatement. 
 
On the day of their closing, manager Charlotte asked us if we’d put the system through its paces for the last time that the club would be open to the public. We set about packing the anthems from our respective residencies and on the night once the people were through the doors played 2 records in turn for the rest of the dance. We included tracks of our own and of friends that were made with that place in mind. Records like Daphni - Ye Ye and Four Tet - Pinnacles were made to first be played at Kieran’s nights there, and the Floating Points - Vacuum EP was born out of the CD-R night at the club, and its launch party was the trigger for Sam’s monthly residency.
 
We set this recording up just before the start of the night and unfortunately it distorts in places, but we make no apology for how joyfully noisy people get! The vibe in the room this night was typical of the club on any given night and we hope this recording captures just a fraction of the spirit of a Plastic People night.
 
A massive thank you from us to everyone that has come down to the nights over the years and supported our music there. We are truly humbled to have shared the music we love with people at this place, and your energy in turn has influenced the way we make music on an unfathomable scale. We also thank the bosses Charlotte Kepel and Ade Fakile for inviting us to the club and having faith in us over  these years! All the best for the future!

We return to our main catalogue with beguiling house from local favourite Luhk, renowned for his live and dynamic modular workouts. Here we get three tight variations on his elastic bumping house sound, plus a remix from fellow analog junkie Saudade. Both 'Jogar Em Casa' and 'Bom É Lá No Meio' (previously a Record Store Day exclusive) play with smokey jazz samples, the former's laidback irony contrasting with the latter's jauntier groove. Percolating synths and a lean, mean bassline on 'Reminiscência Do Trance' will seamlessly propel any afterparty into the late morning hours. Finally, Saudade steers 'Jogar Em Casa' towards the fresh and organic live-feel of vintage Kalabrese.
