Holidays on secluded beaches; long hikes up a mountain to catch the sunset; an unforgettable meal at a restaurant on the square: her preferred means of escaping reality had become impossible over the last year. Now she relied on her imagination to whisk her away. She closed her eyes and pictured herself somewhere free from the pressures of daily life; the waves gently lapping at her feet, the wind rustling her hair and the sun streaming down on her face.

For his debut release on Loose Fit Records, Leipzig-based producer Planetary Secrets explores themes of escapism, translating his personal take on what escaping reality means to him. Conjuring up fantastical feelings of nostalgia and imagined worlds throughout, the opener, 90s rave-inspired 'Guatemala Dreams', transports listeners into dense jungle, while B-side, 'Burning Fist', is a love letter to vintage video games, specifically Tekken. These two original cuts are backed up by remixes from Lobster Theremin affiliate Pépe and Breaka Recordings boss, Breaka.

From the first drops of French Touch to the explorations of Midwest Rave, Queens-born, Chicago based producer & DJ Aguila molds their influences into a liquid groove.

With humble beginnings during their sophomore year of high school, Lázaro Aguilar quitely learned their trade of production and running raves at an early age. With a string of self-releases, they quickly turned heads in the international scene with the support & mentorship of well-respected DJs. Following a brief stint with cancer, Lázaro brushed up on their engineering skills and headed for Chicago to fully immerse themselves in the city's nightlife.

It was while interning at Chicago's very own smartbar where they continued to develop their knack for running undergrounds. Helping co-found and run Support System Sound, a series of loft parties built on the ethos of Midwest Rave & David Mancuso's legendary Loft, they honed their crafts as a DJ during longform sets. As a collective, Support System lasted from 2017–2019, ending in a 34 hour loft party with over 30+ artists.

Not shying away from production duties, Lázaro continued to self-release under their new label The People's Bureau of Ignorance. Catching the ear of Lobster Theremin's Jimmy Asquith, they released 2019's trance-tinged smash, The Club On 27th West, paying homage to New York's Twilo. With recent releases on Seb Wildblood's all my thoughts & Holly Lester's Duality Trax, Lázaro seeks to build upon the legacy of Midwestern Dance Music.

Listening to The 'Murky Waters' EP, it is hard to believe this is a debut release. As each track has emotional depth, invention and a purposeful confidence.

The title track glistens with arpeggios and seductive alien vocals, sounds like a hyperkinetic dollie shot through a Manga style metropolis.

Following the buzz of two earlier EPs, Haider gears up for his third release of 2020 this time on Aus Music. The immaculate afterhours jams on ‘Dance Now Cry Later’ dip into lo-fi aesthetics, blending them with chic sound design playful vocal chops and a virtuosic approach.

'Levitate' embodies exactly that, with the canary-esque synth guiding you into darker territories that befall shortly after the intro. Stong drum work and a surging electro bassline carries you through into the remainder of the cut, filling the mix to near entirety yet leaving just enough room for the introduction vocal stabs and arps along the way. Lovely work again from Haider who despite current goings-on is turning 2020 into a very productive and defining year.
