Next tape shamelessly broadcasts something more than a musical history into the mouthpiece of the era. The playful intro with Kelis' voice instantly sets a suitable rhythmic texture, hinting at a multi-genre evolution within the compilation. First, a tub of burning, aggressive bottoms pours out on the top of the head, flows down the ears with organ synthesizers and tickles the cheekbones with sensitive hats.

Everything becomes more serious when a high-voltage jungle and an assertive swing with a booming, angrily mumbling bass line are alternately wedged into the carefree prowess. Arrogance is quickly knocked down by weightless melodies with rare blues scales and dreamy echoes of Eurodance, packed in classic UKG.

Here and there you can hear the expressive riddle of breakstep mixed with growing landscape pads and agile snare, and in places a notorious raga style seeps through, demonstrating a true gangster bearing.

A fresh street blend Spezial Series Vol. 3 will shower from head to toe with seditious, unbridled and daring highlights, and where necessary — it will caress with romantic accompaniment.

We are back ! To kick off 2022, our first release comes courtesy of Montpellier’s rising talent Dylan Dylan.

She recently made waves with her house music LP titled ‘Euphoria’, released on famous outlet Shall Not Fade, and also participated to well-curated compilations, such as Court Circuit vol.1 on Plaisance Records, and we’re more than delighted to have her on board.

Her ‘Control EP’ explores the boundaries between house and bass music, with a dash of UK garage. A tasty blend of breakbeats, syncopated drums, lo-fi pads and r’n’b vocals which are her signature sounds. 

The release is rounded off with a jungle remix by our own label manager Qant.

Ruse (@rusemusicbristol) makes his Scuffed Recordings debut with the Masami EP, featuring three new darkside UK club tracks.

Previously releasing music as Silene, the Bristol-based producer has made appearances on labels like Fever AM, Nous Disques, and Miracle Drug, picking up in-the-know support across NTS, Rinse and the Crack Mix among others in the process.

EP opener ‘Masami’ is a skippy, sub-loaded delight, taking influence from the early 00s work of Horsepower Productions and El-B, echoing the moment where UK garage morphed into dubstep.

Next up is ‘Kudo’, which layers breaks and electro-inspired production under an otherworldly, warped vocal.

Ruse shows a different side to his production with release closer ‘Fukawa’, a melodic roller led by grooving percussion and stripped-back flutes.

Guava is a producer and guitarist from the UK, now based in Berlin. In this remix, Dylan Dylan completely reappropriates Enflure's You're beautiful tonight and gives us a little gem of a break-up track, with its dry kicks, its continuous hats rolls and its metallic wrinkles. Despite its jerky rhythm, its background sub and its bouncy character, this track contrasts with the overexcited atmosphere of the track that inspired it. The arpeggiati rise gently to the rhythm of the growing percussion. Dylan Dylan plunges us into a soaring and gentle atmosphere, contrasted by the very rhythmic percussive line of his track. Progressive, the harmony of the composition builds up little by little, initiated by this very efficient bass. The female vocals mingle with the whole, sublimating the arrangements, which gain in warmth. The acidic resonance of the synthesizers completes the spaces opened between the kicks, leading to a roundness of great delicacy.
