HYBRID PULSE 2 marks the second chapter in Sonora Destroy RecordsThe second volume of our compilation series is finally here — 12 tracks from artists across Colombia, Venezuela, the U.S., India, Australia, Portugal and the Netherlands, pushing the boundaries of club music. From mutant bass to polyrhythmic techno, from twisted breaks to futuristic club experiments, this release is a wild journey into new sonic territories.

This edition brings together: Cagua, Lucid Distraction, Frenquency, Bone Box, arni, Cacumen, Fourtwenty Sound, Paula Velez, Myledo, Bønehead, JUNЖIES, and Mijok. Each track is a statement, each artist adding their own voice to the hybrid pulse of today’s underground.

The artwork was created by KAYU, weaving layers of meaning and energy into the visual identity of the release.

American producer James Cook has quietly built a reputation for unhurried yet deeply considered electronic music. First appearing on Greta Cottage Workshop back in 2013 with his debut CD album 'Sleep Deep, Mountain King' and later stepping out under his Black Point alias for two vinyl releases on Cologne’s revered Out To Lunch, Cook’s productions have always carried a sense of clarity and patience.

Long-time readers may remember that in July 2020 we published IA MIX 336 Black Point, a revealing mix and interview that offered insight into both his background in music and production techniques. That mix hinted at the directions he would later explore, and 'EP 2' issued through Tokyo-based @format-records (pronounced "format"), extends that trajectory - gathering fragments of the past decade into a finely detailed four tracker.

Vibra Vibra is a new series by Sha Ru, a duo perpetually in nomadic motion, renowned for their deft blend of spoken word and bass-heavy electronics. This first release turns inward on music’s physical pulse, tracing how frequencies ripple through bodies and spaces, shaping the way sound is felt as much as heard.

Low-end waves move like invisible currents — compressing the chest at 50–60Hz, sinking through the gut and legs at 20–40Hz, buzzing in the skull at 60–100Hz. Each track maps these zones, treating bass as a tangible force that sculpts both body and room.

For the second release on JoyLift, EM + STAV expand the scope of their UK techno explorations via a brooding collaboration with essential Bristol-based maverick Grove. Committing anti-anthemtic vocal crossovers to tape while diving deeper into the steely construction of their leftfield club sound, 2 Palms continues the mission the pair set out on back in late 2023 with Endless, the first transmission on their label.

Cast in shades of misty melancholy, 2 Palms is an expressive, open-ended swoop of emotive electronica. Grove responds to the mood in kind, pressing pause on their celebrated, acerbic MC flow to exercise the breadth of their lesser-spotted, no-less-arresting singing. Framed by pockmarks of digital percussion, Grove strikes a bittersweet note that glides between sorrowful introspection and steadfast spirituality. It's a powerful expansion on the sound world EM + STAV are shaping out with each successive release, as well as an exciting new direction for Grove.

Shooting a barbed slice of breakbeat energy through the pensive core of the original, Bristol techno heavyweight Hodge steps up with a club-focused version of 2 Palms. His signature line in angular, incisive drums respectfully casts a razor-sharp framework around the beating heart of the track. That sets the tone for EM + STAV's two other productions on this EP, 'Signal Glint' and 'Dub Wire'. Dealing in crooked rhythms, metallic textures and a heads-down swagger true to the UK soundsystem tradition, both tracks perfectly exercise the duo's lifelong commitment to the dance while upholding their instinct for restless modernism.

2 Palms comes clothed in a design from Guillaume de Ubéda, a Bristol-based illustrator and graphic designer whose vivid, richly detailed style explores the divide between organic and digital. That concept extends to the EP's physical format, as the starkly contemporary sound gets presented as a collectable tape pack alongside the digital release. With accompanying videos for the original and remix of 2 Palms, EM + STAV have pulled together a multimedia project that shows off the full spectrum of their vision for JoyLift, an ever-evolving platform leaving a singular impression in the modern leftfield club scene.

Chasing experience and variety of music moved to UK where spend 3rd of his life producing music and exploring the night life. Living in London started to release his music and collaborate with Uneven, they continued their musical journey in the city of Bristol. Influenced by early Electronica and Autonomic drumandbass sound started their Label "Squares Music" and event "Epified" to represent the sound of their own. Now Jaskin is back in Vilnius continuing producing and his cozy event representing Autonomic and Leftfield Drumandbass music.

This June Minneapolis imprint Kajunga serves up five tracks of hardware-driven dancefloor electronics from one of the city’s DIY scene mainstays, Heckadecimal.

Titled ‘Critters’, the EP from Heckadecimal sees the Always Human Tapes co-founder explore dissonant tones, warped acid and electro aesthetics throughout. Whether it’s the dense sound design and resonant leads of opener, ‘Bat Silk Stunt’, the creeping discordance of ‘D’etre’ or the more contemplative, wistful tones of ’The Luminous Flesh of Giants’ each track here is refreshingly non-standard dancefloor gear and all the better for it. Even when cracking the tried and tested 303 out, the mid-west producer confidently pushes it beyond what we’re used to.

After a stream of releases from local talent like Private Guy and Cloudy Kid, Kajunga is developing a discography that veers from slick deep house to rousing warehouse techno without skipping a beat and this EP is no different.
