Alex "Boshke" Tolstey compiles 'The Outlaws Vol. 2' for Ibogatech Records this October, featuring Extrawelt, Dusty Kid, Ido Ophir, and more.

Alex Tolstey, also known as Alex Boshke, is a USSR born and Israel raised producer and DJ whose career in electronic music spans over 25 years. As a founder of Boshke Beats Records in 2000, Alex executed more than 250 releases and is well known in the global trance and techno community as one of the originators of psychedelic techno movement over the globe working with artists such acts as Extrawelt, X-DREAM, Fuzzion, Eitan Reiter, ZV_K, Gorovich and more.

Ibogatech Records emerged as a branch of legendary Iboga Records, who launched their techno branch a couple of years ago with a vision to create a platform and home for artists who enjoy blurring the boundaries between genres. Alex Boshke Tolstey knows how to stand against the laws of genre separation, and since the 90s his vision for uniting techno versus trance and melting away the stylistic boundaries has been clear to see, as with his latest edition of 'The Outlaws Vol. 2' compilation.

Kicking off the compilation is Russian producer Progus with his mesmerising track 'Dejavu', which focuses on glistening synths and shimmering vibrations before exciting Eitan Reiter's remix of Dusty Kid's 'Psika' delivers rumbling low frequencies and mystical leads. Up next, 'The Humans' by North Macedonia's Zrak fuses spiralling melodies and growling modulations effortlessly whilst Glenn Wilson & Jurek Przezdziecki keep the hypnotic energy flowing through on their track 'Ordinary Atoms' as the blissful keys and angelic leads balance gracefully with the resonating kicks. Blending elements of psychedelic trance and melodic techno, Pallida's 'Planet C-53' integrates tense synth patterns and star-gazing fx. 

Legendary Hamburg duo Extrawelt offer up their signature otherworldly style in 'SEM' as the shaking 909s, rubbery synths, and intricate melodies keep you enticed throughout prior to techno alchemist Nir Shoshani's 'Sleeping In the Matrix' culminating intertwining layers of acid and deep-rooted grooves. Zappy, party banger 'Evolved' keeps you on your toes before Axel Toben's 'Expand Consciousness' and Extrawelt's remix of The MFA' Oranges & Lemons' progress into dreamy territories as cinematic atmospheres, astral elements take centre stage. Israeli producer and engineer Ido Orphir remix LOUD & Shulman track to round off this emphatic collection of cuts, with silky tonal melodies, entrancing pads and sonic complexities.

PREMIERE: LOUD & Shulman - Tales From The Loudmobile (Ido Ophir Remix) [Ibogatech Records]

The process of creating this album, Realm of Awe, has been quite different compared to any of my other albums. It started from a place, where after COVID and the confusion it created I felt like being in a crossroad. Something massive just happened in a world that made us all vulnerable and removed joy to explore, create and share anything with each other. At the same time, it did allow some time to see things from different perspectives, break patterns. So eventually I felt like been at the crossroad, ready to take some news turns - explore.

One Sunday morning I was having a picnic with my wife and son outside of our property, a green valley where we can hear and see eagles, crows, swallows and gazillions of little birds roaming above the valley. We looked at the sky and saw this huge X, and my wife and I said to each other 'why do we keep seeing X in the sky all the time these days?' and as we all do in 2023, we googled it. 'What does seeing X mean?' - and it all was about change, renewing yourself, Phoenix raising from ash, Cyclical nature in life from birth to death to rebirth. What really caught my attention was the ouroboros, a snake eating its own tale. For me this was the 'skeleton-key' or the secret ingredient that I knew would reflect on my album as a theme. It was me, renewing myself but feeling that the process came from me, from inside me and not from outside pressure. I felt joy, release- and in Awe. I would say during the creating process, I felt that joy was pouring into the tunes. 

How did I end up with the name Realm of Awe? I started to get a bit geeky searching on meaning of ancient symbols and how different mythologies around the world were presenting change or transformation. And one night I saw a symbol from Nordic mythology which displayed Helm of Awe, this really powerful looking sign with eight fork-like arms that was noted as symbol of protection and power. It was particularly said that it allows its wearer to overcome fear and be protected, and that God Odin wore it. And the Helm of Awe was often show next to Odin's two ravens, Hugin and Munin which flew around the world informing Odin what's going on. And as my own son is called Raven Björn , this link is important to me. Most of my music and cover arts have some secret dedication to Raven, my little muse.

And that's how the album got its name, from the symbol it turned into a magical, protected, awesome place - Realm of Awe. For me it truly describes the journey and the destination behind this album. So, the idea of having a Realm of Awe -something terrifyingly awesome, like conquering your fears and landing on some new amazing dimension seemed like a way to go.
