Luke Hess arrives on Rekids Special Projects with ‘Detroit Visions’.

With original releases and remix material on labels such as Omar S’ FXHE Records, Carl Craig’s Planet-E, Motech, Echocord, and his own DeepLabs imprint, Luke Hess is no stranger to expanding the boundaries of electronic music. Preparing his first full release on Rekids Special Projects this June, the Detroit born and raised DJ/producer drops four inventive techno cuts for Radio Slave’s imprint.

Across the release, Hess plays with classic dub techno sensibilities, distilling his years of experience into a set of highly playable, evolving club tracks. From the interplaying chords and pads on opener ‘Two Prophets’ to the dense acid lines on ‘Polymoon’, Hess’ mastery of the genre is on full display across ‘Detroit Visions’.

When Matt asked me for music, I was over the moon, and I still haven't quite come down yet. This EP is inspired by my mid-90s warehouse party days & the feeling I still get while driving around in Detroit. Field Records is to release a two-CD compilation and three vinyl samplers of music from the label's artists old and new entitled simply, Collection.

This second sampler pulls together three tracks of deep, dubby and ambient music from French producer duo Polar Inertia, Remote_ and Sweden's Varg. His track 'Ohns Odegard' is a serene and autumnal bit of ambient with swollen pads and incidental synths making for a soothing atmosphere. Remote_'s 'Echo Of You' is just as wide open and serene but has a warm, rubbery pulse driving it along and finally Polar Inertia gets a little frazzled and intense with their loopy slow techno roller 'Sonic Outlaws'.

The fourth Exposure Series release is upon us. If you have not heard, the Exposure series is our signature compilation series that features multiple artists and is pressed on vinyl for the most discerning DJs and collectors. 'Linear Radiance' gathers together 4 extremely hot artists in the scene for one special 12'. The EP begins with 'Raizel' by the hot newcomer Grush. This early set builder is smooth in the constraint it has rolling along in the sweet spot. A beautiful jaunt that is rich and fluid. Next, is the amazing Philipp Priebe. 'So Glad' is another Priebe heater. A very talented producer, you can always count on him for great dancefloor business. The melody sneaks up on you as it builds from deep within. A sublime and subdued corker! 'Sonic Shadows' starts out on the B-side from skillful Nicolas Barnes. His contribution is a combination of a big club techno sound and a melodic flow that is almost reminiscent of some prime late 1990's progressive house. Finally, is 'Grey Rythem' by Cirkel Square. Riding a catchy micro dub sound that is clever, fun, and surprisingly deeper than we could have ever hoped! All four tracks make for a healthy, well-balanced piece of wax! Linear Radiance is lovingly pressed and shared on crystal clear 180-gram vinyl. Act quick while copies are in stock. This compilation is sure to get picked up by DJs, collectors, and fans.

Midgar is very happy to deliver a new release by Wata Igarashi!!! Anticipated since few weeks already, with the two bonus digital tracks ´Mantle´ and ´Displacement´ (both available for free download), Ciphers EP is a rich assemblage of deep sonic excursions showing throughout a strong coexistence of organic and virtual elements. The record opens with ´Ciphers´, where a fast paced sandy groove is driving high on drones via sparking ambiances. Second track, ´Hailstones´ is basically a beat knocking its way outside, under a heavy hi-hat hail, slashed by snares and haunted by holographic spirits. On the B-side ´Lucifero´ carries a mellow but powerful mood, sounds like a morning star that gradually transforms into a supernova, is definitely the more dancefloor oriented cut of the release. Closing the vinyl, the slow-footed ´Cocytus´ is the complete opposite of its previous track, because of a cold, grave rhythm, treated like a windswept tree. Finally, the only digital tracks, ´Mantle´ and ´Displacement´ are perfectly resuming Wata Igarashi sound signature, as trippy gatherings of crafted beats joining drones and deformed soundscapes, the first is mind stressing and epic at certain stages, while the second vibrates so dreamy as it´s made of percussions and supernatural blows.
