As its name suggests, "California Wang" is a joyful mix of cosmopolitan musical influences, ranging from surf music to traditional Asian melodies, including reggae and acid house.

Captain Mustache (Kompakt, Bedrock,...) delivers a hypotonic and captivating remix of the song. For its part, Vantage (Neoncity Records,...) offers a funky version in homage to the OSTs of 90s video games.

PREMIERE: Mundo D - Odyssey (Silicodisco Remix) [Mélopée Records]

Hailing from Asunción, Paraguay, Poly Fiction is a brand-new and promising duo focused on delivering high-quality Indie and Electro Pop themes through not only studio material but also live performances. Their well-constructed single “Sauvages”, originally released in June last year, is now back with a solid selection of remixes: Jorhero (SXDNS321), She Teiks, Dist, Vera Brothers, and CaWa brought the original to their respective realms and twisted it at their own will. The result is a colourful selection of different sonorities encompassing Disco, Techno, Raw Trance, and Electronica incursions.

Premiered here, the powerful interpretation made with love by She Teiks, whose previous appearances on Playground, Richmerch, Bonkers, Logia, Duro, Jane Musica, and Kyma Komplex contributed to establish the Argentinian duo amid the most interesting acts amid the South American electronic music scene.

For their take on “Sauvages”, Ma. Paz & Belén evoked the peak-time gods and came up with an energetic and upbeat version. The (beautiful) vocals became scarce, appearing as a boost for the frantic synth layers and a reminder to be "a little less serious" and "a little wilder", according to the lyrics. The early Electro gait, with a pinch of Miss Kittin & The Hacker seasoning, turned She Teik’s remix into one of the best tracks of the year so far – in our humble opinion.

A collaboration between Greco-German duo Local Suicide, and Argentinian Panko brings this sexy and dark single that mixes both worlds, with some Latin percussions, a groovy baseline, and Spanish vocals. The feeling on it evokes the sensation of stepping into a club, where the euphoric, sensual energy of the dance floor envelops you in ecstasy and the night's journey, intoxicated by the music, surrendering to the urge to dance without inhibition or the need for words.

Greco-German Vamparela and Brax Moody of unstoppable DJ and producer duo and couple Local Suicide do not believe in half measures for their music. In addition to maintaining careers in the music industry, and pu ing on some of the most infamous underground parties Berlin has to offer, these two are still finding time to make waves with their productions and drive live audiences into a frenzy not just in their chosen hometown of Berlin but across all four corners of the world. A wild fusion of new wave, acid, slow techno, EBM, and dark disco is what defines the signature Local Suicide sound. MEANT RECORDS welcomes accomplished Parisian producer TIM PARIS for an EP that features three standout originals and two brilliant remixes from COSMO VITELLI and SONNS.
Over a glittering career, TIM PARIS has of course collaborated with Ivan Smagghe, run his own Marketing Music label and turned out a diverse album, ‘Dancers’, for My Favorite Robot and 'We Us', for Ekleroshock.
From jacking electro to rugged new wave via freaky house, he has a fully formed palette that is distinguishable by his raw sense of groove and texture.
First up here, PARIS works with Telemark on ‘Version A’, seven sizzling minutes of macho robot funk. Whirring synths, twisted bass and chunky drums all get you up on your toes and are sure to inject the crowd with wild spirit. French touch genius and I’m A Cliche label boss Cosmo Vitelli steps up to remix and brings more punk spirit to a slap-funk track with booming kicks and brain frying chords. It drips with cool and dark libido and is sure to become a real anthem.
PARIS’s second masterful original, ‘Version B’, features Sex Judas and has a metallic and melodic bassline that runs round the scales in off kilter fashion. Sci-fi pads and bright stabs all add colour to this dystopian disco track
as it bumps along and sweeps you up.
Remixer SONNS and his seriously accomplished discography on labels like Kompakt and ESP Institute is next on duty. He flips the track into a loose, flabby chugger with tons of reverb on the guitar lines and spooky synths
that wither and wilt. It’s tough disco of the sort that brought magic in Andrew Weatherall and Ivan Smagghe sets when the wax got released.
With the brand new ‘Version C’, PARIS gets back to his first love and gets as close as he can get to the music that brought him to our ears, several years ago now: some kind of a dirty deep house infused in DJ Koze's
beats, made strongly addictive with the enhanced vocal all along the track and a tension at it's highest.
This is a fantastic five tracker of gritty machine disco.

Tim Paris - Version A Ft Telemark (Cosmo Vitelli Remix) [Meant]

Melodies linger like ghosts, speaking the language of the lost, Berlin’s newborn baby Ghosting Corporation hails from unhealthy breakups and unanswered text messages, with tunes made for places where loud sound systems and lonely spirits meet. The night is there to evade those negative feelings of emptiness and exchange them for a brief moment of body movement.

GC first reference, titled “Enter the Wild” is stuffed with elements brought together to create a mix of percussion, groove and excitement, an after midnight fiesta combining Anastasia Zems’s massive vocal talent with what label’s creator, Mike Sacchetti had envisioned probably influenced by a tribal dance he saw in a movie and a long bike ride home. Both stepped out a bit from their living room couch to deliver something fresh to the sound of Indie Dance. 

And as if it wasn’t confusing enough to your expectations, two special guests came to spend the evening at the remix department: the France-based Moroccan rooted artist Zaatar widens the sound spectrum while spitting out cosmic dust with a slow builder re-interpretation piece of “The World’s a Dream”, ultimately to hand it over to Berlin’s established producer Radial Gaze to properly fuel the rocket with an acid energised version just tailored for the peak time enthusiasts.
