Branded as a ‘bedroom producer’ by his fans, STARTFROMSKRATCH is an exciting Chicago-based talent going from strength to strength with a well-crafted and growing discography of jazz, house and hip-hop infused electronic music productions. ‘Of Yesterday’ welcomes another multidimensional and glistening house affair this February.


Of Yesterday’ fuses dubby low-ends with euphoric pads and energetic builds, while the track is grounded by the bittersweet and heartfelt vocals which flow throughout the cut. Elevating piano melodies and chunky basslines add rich depth and complete an elivened dancefloor affair equally suited to Ibiza sunsets and festivals alike. 


“Of Yesterday showcases the emotional complexities of every relationship and focuses on the conflicting emotions one feels when seeing someone they once had a toxic relationship with. I can relate to this in a romantic way and platonic way. Most of us have people in our lives that make us feel many different ways when we see them. In this song specifically, the singer refuses to get sucked into that bad relationship again and refuses to live in the past. The red sun sinks heavily behind the hills as the long days grow short and the evening shadows grow longer. Summertime seems distant now, a season of yesterday. Showered by the tangerine leaves of ancient trees and the whisper of the autumn breeze. The world is orange and crisp now, welcoming the harvest era and the beginnings of a new chapter.

Chapter 11, a story split in tandem following the tales of two fresh faces unseen and new. The first tale is told by Duncan Thomas, a classically trained jazz maven infiltrating the electronic music world with untapped finesse and a provocative flare. Showcasing a style of impeccable taste and analogue intricacies, his track ‘Dizzy’ sets the tone, leading the dance that will follow.

His contemporary is the equally eager Argentinian ace, Luciano Amaya. A stripped-back enigma of class and carefully chosen elements. His music feels fresh, surgeon-like and selective, with no sound out of place or unwanted space. He channels a more mystical sentiment, alluring and curious.
