Man With a Second Face x Be Without You

Through experimentation and off-the-cuff producing, Irish producer MATHESON has explored a spacey sonic style which lead to the self published LVM3 release in 2019. Exactly one year on, the same methodology shines through in ZF002.

In his Belfast home studio, MATHESON spent the first few months of 2020 crafting contrasting electronic vibes in the Virtue EP. Each segment of the release was made with a purpose to be played out in individual environments, in tandem suitable for home-listening and dance floor domination.

Big airy synth pads drenched in reverb and dynamic percussion act as the EP’s foundation whilst magnetic structuring distinctively defines each track. With this in mind, the straightforward and stripped back Stretch serves a set opener, encouraging clubbers to take that first step onto the dance floor.

The EP’s signature track Virtue is a primed for peak-time selection with it’s driving drums and big room breakbeat style. MATHESON makes his closing statement in Dior, drawing together varying components to create a multi-situational sound.

Returning to ZF in 2020 is North London instrumental maestro, Donny Rotten. His socials recently have been filled with home DIY sessions showing off his guitar skills. He combines his telecaster riffs with club-ready beats, creating tunes which are wholly original and allow a refreshing listening experience. Having already had successful releases this year with Eton Messy and Juicy Traxxx, he now brings this inimitable style back to ZF with experimental disco breaks.

Hard-hitting basslines are something Boychi has in spades. That's why we knew we had to let him loose on a two-track. The title cut, Space Walker, is a cosmic journey through wavering acid lines and galactic synth patterns. The flip side is a more standard house affair, but brace for impact as the track hits a peak halfway through. A space journey not to be missed.
